[ Background/History ]
The Takatori family was a powerful, influential, and rich family in Japan. Takatori Reiji was quickly becoming an important politician, and his younger brother Shuichi was moving up the ranks in the police force. Both were set to make sure their family became one of, if not the most powerful family in Japan, when the unthinkable happened. Kikuno, Reiji’s wife, had already borne him two sons; Hirofumi and Masafumi. But, though she was a caring wife and mother, she did not love Reiji. No, her heart belonged to another, and, hidden from the man they both were related to, she and Shuichi made love. Karma, however, decided to play a game on them, and Kikuno found herself pregnant. She gave birth to a baby boy, whom she named Mamoru. Mamoru was presented as Reiji’s son, although it didn’t take long for his “father” to learn the truth. Determined to spite his brother, Reiji never told Kikuno that he had learned the truth, and Shuichi never learned that Mamoru was his son. Mamoru grew up with his brothers, much younger, but still happy. His father never seemed to have time to spend with him, but his mother loved him deeply, and his brothers played with him when they had time.
When Mamoru was 10, however… Mamoru had been kidnapped, bound, and gagged by a group of men, and was being kept in a dark room. He was scared, not knowing what these men planned, especially after his father refused to pay their ransom. The leader held a knife, and was threatening Mamoru with it, when the lights went out. A hand freed Mamoru, and pulled him to the safety of a waiting car. Mamoru didn’t know who this man was, but he could feel that he was safe, and he fell asleep in the back…
Tsukiyono Omi was everything a high-school girl could dream of. He’s cute, smart, talented… He could be the captain of the school’s archery team if he wanted, but, alas, Omi was an orphan, and had to work to support himself. Not that the girls minded, of course. Because Omi worked at the Koneko no Sumu Ie, a flowershop in Tokyo, with three other gorgeous guys. Omi had worked there since he as 15, when he’d transferred into their school. He never gave much information about himself, but was always there to flash a smile or give encouragement to anyone who needed it.
What the girls didn’t know, however, was what Omi did at night. Omi had no memories of his past, and as far back as he could remember, he worked for and was trained by Persia, to serve as Bombay, the founding member of “Weiß,” the lethal team run by Persia for his organization, Kritiker. Omi was a skilled hacker, as well as an assassin, specializing in projectile weapons, such as darts and crossbows. Omi didn’t like what he did, but it was necessary, he knew. It was up to him, and the other members of Weiß, to stop the “Dark Beasts” that the law couldn’t go after, so that they could and would not be able to prey on innocents any longer.
However… things were not to be easy for Omi. While jogging one day, he came across a young boy… who had been kidnapped and escaped. While trying to protect him and stop the Dark Beasts who had kidnapped and killed not only him, but other children as well, Omi started getting flashes of his own past, of a kidnapping he had lived through. This bothered Omi, but he had nowhere to turn for assistance. Not long after, while fighting a man who, while trying to create a perfect being, had not only turned many people into monsters, but himself as well, Omi’s mind unlocked more for him. He had been held by the man-turned-monster, and when he saw him, face-to-face, Takatori Masafumi uttered a single word: “Mamoru”, before one of Omi’s teammates defeated him.
Omi was bothered by this. What did Masafumi mean by “mamoru”? Did he mean “protect”? Or was it a name? Omi started to research into the Takatori family. He knew, as all of Weiß did, that Aya, codename Abyssinian, hated Takatori Reiji. And they’d just killed one of his sons. What Omi learned, however, was that the Takatori family wasn’t as happy as it had seemed. Yes, Reiji was a political powerhouse, aimed to be the next Prime Minister of Japan, with his son Hirofumi as his aide, and Shuichi had become the police commissioner, but there was more to the story. Seven years earlier, Reiji’s youngest son had been kidnapped, and was never heard from again. The case had never been closed, and so the boy was still listed as “missing,” but, in her grief, Reiji’s wife Kikuno hung herself in sorrow over her lost son. But it was the name that attracted Omi’s attention: Takatori Mamoru.
Omi didn’t have long to ponder on this, however, as their next mission was a big one. Corrupted politicians, it seemed, had set up a private hunting grounds. But they weren’t hunting for game. No, they were hunting for innocent men and women. Omi offered to go undercover and get himself caught, so that Weiß could locate the hunting grounds. However, he wasn’t expecting one of the girls from the shop (who self-styled herself as Omi’s potential girlfriend), getting mixed up in it. Omi had to protect Ouka, without revealing his identity as Bombay, and still seek out the person running the hunting grounds: Takatori Hirofumi. Omi had questions for him, questions that he didn’t want the others to know. So he drugged Ouka and arranged for her to be taken to safety, while he tracked his way back to the villa that served as base for the operation. There, he confronted Hirofumi about his family, and Hirofumi recognized Omi for who he was: Takatori Mamoru, the missing son of Reiji Takatori. Omi faltered, and when the rest of Weiß came, Omi revealed what he’d suspected, revealed his true name, and allowed Hirofumi to escape.
Omi wasn’t sure how to deal with his teammates, but, in getting Ouka safe, he’d agreed to go with her to a party her father was putting on. What Omi wasn’t expecting, however, was to be captured from the party by Schuldig, a member of Schwarz, Reiji’s bodyguard team of psychics, and beaten by Hirofumi, who wanted information about Weiß. Omi was rescued, however, and, determined to right his mistake, personally took care of Hirofumi. Schuldig, however, wasn’t done with Omi. With the help of two of his own teammates, Schuldig orchestrated a plot to make Weiß think that Omi had betrayed them, with Ouka present. Ouka, however, was caught in the crossfire and killed. Omi wept for her, not only as a friend… but as a sister as well, for he had learned that Ouka’s father was none other than Takatori Reiji!
Needing answers, Omi sought out Persia, demanding to know why he had set him up to kill his own family. Persia calmly told him that it was not just him who had trouble with this, but Persia did as well, as Persia was actually Takatori Shuichi, Reiji’s brother! Reiji had figured this out, however, and, upset at the death of his daughter, Reiji made his move as soon as he was in the Prime Minister’s office. He publicly announced that there was a terrorist organization known as Weiß, and brought in the military to stop them. Persia tried to reason with his brother, but Reiji killed him. Weiß arrived just as Persia died, and Persia never had the chance to tell Omi what Reiji had just told him: That Mamoru was actually his own son.
Weiß fought hard, but were able to stop Reiji, with Abyssinian getting the final blow to defeat the man who had destroyed his family. With Persia gone, and everything seemingly finished, Weiß went their own ways.
Things didn’t stay peaceful for long, however, as Schrient, Masafumi’s team created as a counterpart to Schwarz, kidnapped Abyssinian’s sister, setting things in motion for another confrontation. Weiß fought against first Schrient, then Schwarz, and, finally, the Elders of Esset, the organization of psychics of whose goal it was to resurrect a demon, by it possessing the body of young Fujimiya Aya. Weiß was successful, and Aya-chan was rescued, but they could no longer go back to the peaceful flowershop. And so, traveling in a trailer-turned-portable flower shop, they set up a new base of operations in Kyoto.
Times in Kyoto were more peaceful for Weiß, although the flower shop was as popular as ever. Peaceful, that is, until they became involved in a mission involving the American government, where a friend they’d made was killed.
[ Personality ]
Due to his upbringing, Omi has a major disconnect between different facets of his personality.
His ‘main’ persona, Omi, is cheerful, perky, and friendly. If you need someone to talk to, a shoulder to lean on, Omi should be the first one you go to. He loves talking to people, and is very supportive. He’s a horrible liar, but he bounces back from hardships incredibly well. Somehow, despite what he’s gone through, and what he does for a living, Omi somehow manages to stay ‘innocent’. Not ‘innocent’ as in ‘without sin’, per se, but ‘innocent’ in that he has been raised to not believe he’s doing anything wrong. He’ll try to find an alternate method, if it’s available, but in the end, he does what is the ‘right’ thing.
Of course, it’s never ‘Omi’ doing that ‘right’ thing, it’s ‘Bombay’. Bombay is an assassin, who has ‘existed’ for 8 years, since Persia rescued Mamoru and trained him to be a member of Weiß. When he’s in his ‘Bombay mode’, he’s not without compassion, but he is also focused and dedicated to his job; the job of stopping the ‘Dark Beasts’ that prey on the innocents, and cannot be gone after by normal means. Bombay will risk his life to protect his friends and innocents, and he tries not to let it show how much things affect or hurt him. He’ll go to great lengths to protect those he cares about, even sacrificing himself if it means they’ll escape unharmed.
That compassion led Omi to his biggest sacrifice in his life, and his third facet. Omi knows that as long as Kritiker and the Takatori family exist, that the other members of Weiß will never truly be free. He also knows that the Takatori family is a poison to everything it touches, and that if left unchecked, things could get even worse.
[ Specialties and Abilities ]
As a normal human, Omi does not have any special abilities. However, he has been highly trained in other areas.
Omi, though remaining lean and youthful, is extremely fit, and can both move quickly and stealthily. He also is highly proficient in most projectile weapons, including bows, crossbows, darts, throwing knives and needles. He has basic instruction on firearms, but is not as comfortable with those. He is also highly skilled in computer hacking and searching. There is very little that he can't find, if it's on a computer somewhere.
