Title: Existance
Rating: PG
Pairing: onesided Woogyu
Genre: Angst
Length: 1000+ words
Summary: “Sunggyu's voice is all Woohyun needs. It's all he will ever need.”

It was one of those rare moments when Sunggyu was completely and utterly vulnerable. Where Sunggyu let go of everything, and all the control and constraints he usually had tightly wrapped around his feelings left him, as he dropped to the floor and brought his knees up to his chest, burying his face there. And as his soul poured out with his tears leaving himself bare to anyone who looked, Woohyun looked.

It was one of those rare moments when Sunggyu would let Woohyun hold him in his arms, when he would forget about his leader position and let his best friend and band mate comfort him. Where Woohyun could show his love for Sunggyu and he would accept every drop of it. Where Woohyun picked up everything that Sunggyu put out, and Sunggyu let him

It was one of those rare moments where Woohyun would do anything to have him be with her, because the shivers that raked throughout Sunggyu's whole body were enough to pinch Woohyun's heart tight and make him forget about the pain he felt when he see’s him with her. But as Sunggyu’s fingers intertwine with his Woohyun finds himself never wanting this moment to end, until he hears Sunggyu gasp for air as his sobs overtake him again, and Woohyun’s heart breaks all over.

They didn’t say anything. Because they didn’t need to say anything. Woohyun already knew it all. And Sunggyu knew he knew, which is why he was the one he let hold him.

She was Sunggyu’s world, just like he was Woohyun’s. They were in love with each other, and yet here he was sobbing in Woohyun’s arms. Why? Because he wouldn’t admit it. Sunggyu couldn’t be in love. Not now. Not when they had finally gotten the fame they had been waiting for. Not when their fame was on the rise. Not when he was the leader and had to set an example. Not yet. They were still rookies in the scheme of things. They weren’t big enough yet to be able to be in relationships. At least out in the open. So he held it inside and it tore him apart every time he saw her. Just like it tore Woohyun apart every time Sunggyu saw her.

This time was the worst though.

“I’m tired of this Sunggyu. I’m tired of waiting for you when you won’t even tell me what I’m waiting for. When you won’t even say anything to me that crosses the line. Were stuck in this limbo between friends and lovers and you won’t do anything to move us, in fact you’re the breaks. I’m perfectly fine with moving somewhere, obviously I would like it to be forward but if it were backwards at least I wouldn’t have to hurt like this anymore. But you won’t let me move an inch. And I’m just tired,”

She said it before leaving Sunggyu alone in the room; of course he wasn’t actually alone because Woohyun was there. Woohyun was always there. But they didn’t know that, his existence didn’t matter.

Sunggyu had let out a sigh as he stared after the door, and then he broke down and ended up in the position he was in now. It didn’t take long for Woohyun to go over to Sunggyu’s side, even if his sobbing form was so painfully beautiful.

When he finally moves, Sunggyu leans forward and starts punching Woohyun’s chest. Woohyun almost wishes that he would punch harder, that he would leave bruises so that he could have some physical explanation for this ache in his chest. So that this moment could be emblemized on his body, if not for forever at least until those black and blue marks fade from yellow to nothing. Hoping that the ache would fade with it, even though he knew it wouldn’t.

Sunnggyu stops and clings on to him, his sobs finally slowing as he clutches Woohyun’s shirt, his grip turning his knuckles white.

“I don’t want to sing anymore,” he let’s out in a whisper. And Woohyun almost hits him. It’s a lie, and they both know it. Singing is all that Sunggyu has ever dreamed of doing. Singing is Sunggyu. It’s the reason Woohyun fell in love with him in the first place, and it’s what saves him when he is too broken down to go on.

Sunggyu’s voice is like oxygen to Woohyun, he survives off it, thrives in it. His voice is the reason Woohyun can go on even knowing that Sunggyu doesn’t love him. Sunggyu’s voice is all Woohyun needs. It’s all he will ever need.

He'll never forget the first time he heard it. When he found out he wasn't the only main vocal in the group he was upset, he had thought that was going to be his position. Then, not only was there another main vocal, but he was the oldest, so he was the leader, and it almost seemed to Woohyun as if he wasn't needed. Why would they need another main vocalist when they already had one? And it wasn’t as if Woohyun had a lot more to offer. But then, he walked into the practice room and heard Sunggyu's voice. And nothing else mattered. He just knew he wanted to sing with Sunggyu for the rest of his life.

“I don’t want to sing,” he repeats, and this time Woohyun really does hit him.

He could understand if he would have said he didn’t want to be an idol, or he didn’t want to be in Infinite anymore, but not sing anymore? That, he would never wrap his mind around, because Woohyun sang for himself and no one else, and nothing in the world would ever change that.

It made Woohyun think that he didn’t love Sunggyu as much as Sunggyu loved her, but he knew that was wrong. He knew he loved Sunggyu more than anything. But loving someone didn’t mean he would give up his voice for him. Sure if he had to give up singing in order for Sunggyu to live, he might do it, but that was a completely illogical situation- so it didn’t matter.

“Don’t ever say that again,” he says through clenched teeth as Sunggyu just looks up at him shocked and nods. But Woohyun knows he is just appeasing him, that he still believes in what he said. And that scares him more than anything.

A world without Kim Sunggyu’s voice is a world that is not worth living in.

So, he releases Sunggyu’s breaks as he pushes him forward. Because even though it would tear his heart apart, if Sunggyu gives up singing, then it would tear his world apart. Woohyun decides he can live without a heart.

It isn’t hard to do. He finds her with her music plugged into her ears singing Sunggyu’s song softly, a tear running down her cheek. He knows the feeling. She looks up and sees him looking at her, but she doesn’t look surprised at all, she just nods slowly and gives him a small smile.

Woohyun feels naked under that smile, like she can see through everything he is. He wonders if this is how it is for everyone who ends up loving the same person. If they can all just look at each other and know exactly what the other is feeling and thinking. He wouldn’t know, because he has only ever loved one person, and he only ever would.

So he calls Sunggyu and tells him to come, and when he walks in a second of hearing her voice is all he needs.

Sunggyu forgets the reason he came there, that Woohyun called him, and she forgets Woohyun was even there in the first place, as they loose themselves in each other.

So Woohyun turns around and leaves the room, leaving his heart behind.

Because his existence doesn’t matter. Not to them.
