Complications

And there, I held him in my arms, feeling the warm tears trickle down my shoulder, tears that he cries for another person.

Kikwang drove down the avenue, speeding past a gas station that he was supposed to stop at. Muttering a curse, he reversed the Maserati with a single force on the gas pedal, parking it on the right with top expertise.
There was a new building, one that set up a disgusting contrast between the colorful splotches of green, red, blue, and purple shops.
It was a small café.

I was surprised, no, annoyed at the fact that someone opened up an ugly gray shop beside my vivid array of clothing stores. Now everything is not in sync, not perfectly organized.
The shop was filled with repulsive looking cakes, cookies, and sweets of all kinds. But that wasn’t what caught my eyes.
There was a person, the shop owner, to be exact. He was pulling in foam wrapped stools and chairs into the building, one by one. It looked like doing that took up great effort, there was already sweat dripping down his silky golden hair-
Wait. What am I doing?
Obsessing over a guy was one thing, but obsessing over a competitor of business was just… retarded. But its not like one single shop is going to stop my huge expanse of emporiums from expanding.

It wasn’t something that I would do often. But out of curiosity, I ventured into that café, taking a seat near one of the newly decorated tea tables, taking a scan through the menu.
There were many intricately designed mousses, ice cream flavors, and frappes. There were a few more blank pages at the back; I’m guessing he didn’t finish writing out the list yet.
“Oh! I didn’t notice that there was a customer here… how lucky, right when I finished moving the things in. the menu still isn’t finished, I apologize for that…” He looked really excited, smiling, showing his pearly white teeth.
“That's alright. I’m not especially crazy for sweets anyway. I want a caramel latte please.”
“Caramel latte coming right up!”
He rushed into the kitchen, hurrying to prepare the drink that I ordered. During that short interval of time, I managed to take a glance at his nametag, the small rectangular piece stitched onto his white apron.
Yang Yoseob.

--Yoseob--
There was a very frequent customer that came almost every day to my supplementary café. He would always order a latte, or an espresso and comment on how good it was.
After one month, I decided that I didn’t want to be a loner for the rest of my life. I wanted to make a new friend, and he seemed like a very nice person. Though I was sort of scared at first, since he looked like someone that came from a really rich family, someone that was hard to get close to.
That day, I decided to gather up my courage and talk to him. I walked over to his table and tapped him on the shoulder.
“Hm?”
“Hi, um. I just wanted to know what your name was.”
He flashed a bright smile at me and said, “Lee Kikwang. My name is lee Kikwang.”
It felt really nice to know someone apart from your family in a foreign place full of highways and technology.

Through the course of business, I gained a lot of customers, and workers. One of my fully dedicated employees is Hyungseung; he was the best pastry chef that I hired, and one of my best friends.
I met him one day while he was sneaking around the café, looking awfully suspicious. He wore a black leather jacket and a bandana with a peace sign on it, topped off with a pair of navy blue jeans.
Hyungseung didn’t order anything, nor did he even come inside the shop. He stood there, beside the window in the fruitcake section, hungry looking. That's when I offered a cake to him, since he seemed like he need one.
“Eh?”
“You really want a cake, don't you?”
“I… um… yeah I do.”
He accepted the fruitcake and literally swallowed it in one bite, licking his lips in satisfaction.
“Um… thanks. I really appreciated that. Um, to pay you back, I could help around in your shop. I know how to bake…”

It wasn’t long into the summer vacation when I met Doojoon, the handsome guy that every girl falls for. I couldn’t help but feel jealous of him; it was irritating to see that whenever he came by the café, the girls would multiply in number.
What was more irritating was the fact that I get irritated whenever I see him with girls. Does that even make sense?
Unknowingly, I fell. Deep into that deep chasm, where I could never climb back. I fell in love with Yoon Doojoon.
I didn’t know when, or why, or even how this happened, but the happiness that appears out of nowhere every time I see him explained it all.

--Kikwang--
I found myself submerged in those deep ebony eyes, trapped and unable to escape. He was casting a spell to my heart, wrapping it up in chains and locks, making it unable to see anyone other than him.
That was when I started going to his shop, way too frequently to my liking. I neglected my baseball practices with my friends, just so I could sit in that café, talking to Yoseob for hours at a time.
There was one time when the store was mainly occupied by chocolate mousses, the brown color splotched over every corner of the café. It was strange, really.
“Why are you making so many chocolate mousses?” The question lingered around for a while before Yoseob broke the silence.
“I… really like chocolate.”
“Really…”
He didn’t say much this time, which was unlike him, because he would always talk and talk, keeping the conversation going no matter what stupid topics we’re on.
And it was then that something hit me.
It was the way he looked at that person, one that he’s never given me, or anyone else.
When he stares for too long while we’re chatting, I wave my hands in front of his face and say, “earth to Yang Yo. Do you copy?” and that's when the brief moment of his face turning a shade of pink blinds my view.

That summer, the first time when I saw tears from Yoseob, was also the summer that my heart tore to pieces. He was sitting alone in the café after a busy and hectic day, the tears threatening to fall from his eyes.
He was throttling the tablecloth, with gritted teeth and swollen eyes. I felt like I had to do something, so I went up to him.
And there, I held him in my arms, feeling the warm tears trickle down my shoulder, tears that he cries for another person.
“I… I’m sorry that you had to see this side of me. Its disgusting, right?” He muttered through short breaths.
“We all get our hearts broken some time in our lives. Its normal…” I strained to keep a smile on my face.
“Thanks for being such a good friend Kikwang…”
No, I don't want to be friends with you. I want something more, something that I hate myself for.
This is what jealousy is, huh?
--------
Heartbreak after heartbreak, this is what the human nature is.
And when you’re distressing over someone, there is always that other person that actually loves you, giving away all the kindness you need. Yet you cant see them.
Because the only one you see is the one you love.
