The Cure concert last night was three hours of awesome. I did not miss the keyboards at all. It made everything a bit more driving and raw. They did use a lot of cool guitar and bass effects to give some of the feel, and it really worked

The Cure have never disappointed. They did three encores when I saw them as well, the only band to ever do that in my experience. It seems like they can't bring themselves to do less than everything the audience needs to get more than their money's worth. And if you're in the touring biz this long, that's a good philosophy to have.

I think the lack of keyboards might be problematic to some extent--I'd definitely miss them if they played Lovecats, (and I can't believe they didn't play that, but I guess that's why), but as long as Simon Gallup's slapping the base or the stand up and Robert Smith's singing, that pretty much guarantees a good Cure show.

Wow, five times! I thought my 4 times for They Might Be Giants and The Pixies and 3 for The Ramones were pretty good. You make me feel totally lame.

BTW, if you ever wanna be concert companions again, let me know. :-)
