404 Error

So I go to the grocery store today and am using the self check out. I put some plums on the scale and look at the screen to find the code. There it is 4040. I think nothing of it and proceed to punch in the number. I hit the 0 about 3 times just trying to get it to accept and the screen freezes. Next thing I see is "Item not found: 404". I
