Today was my first workout at Aquafit. I walked in there, said hi to the receptionist (who apparently went to the same high school as me), scanned my little member pass thingy, walked upstairs, found a walker I liked the look and positioning of, put my bag down and on the walker I went

Good on you bro, this is a very positive step :) Don't stress about the breathing - If you felt 100% on only your first day, you'd have no reason to even be going. You're unfit.. Bad breathing goes with that! LOL It's all up hill from here :D
