Hi there...well im really not good with words on expressing what i feel when i see he's art work but after reading some of the comments on the link you provided from others who have i agree with alot of them, there is alot of emotion in he's paintings with racism / the rich & poor /music .. too me he's art is very emotional his truth is load by the colors and lines he uses. Well thats my thoughts on Basquiat i really dont know much about art i think its too late for me to learn but i do enjoy looking at stuff he did and reading more about him. =)
i know what you mean, i'm not great at expressing thoughts and feelings with words either. i have a hard time expressing myself verbally as well, because i am a visual person.
IT'S NEVER TOO LATE to learn. you learn until you die. why do you say that? the fact that you're enjoying art is a great thing in itself.
i’ve always loved and felt connected to Basquiat’s love of history and curiosity of past life. not just history, but the human anatomy and life as we know it. we all have our own ways of tapping into that curiosity and awe. his way was reading, digesting and drawing and drawing and drawing and painting and painting and painting. a special soul.
reading Hoban's biography was great in getting to him know better but nothing is more informative than his monographs. so much talent, so much more to talk about.
if i were sitting across from you, with Cherry Kool-Aid on the rocks, I'd be able to explain myself better haha
He does seem like a very interesting person. I haven't read any of his biography's yet, because college has begun again, but it's on the top of my very long book list.
You sound cool, I really do wish I was sitting with you discussing art and every random thing that comes into my mind when I'm talking to strangers. with kool-aid on the rocks of course :]
