I live in a rural area where trash pickup is not automatically provided. People either take their trash to the dump themselves, or they contract with a service company to do it for them. It just makes sense to do it that way. Here, you will often find "recycling" containers in businesses etc, but many times they end up in the same trash container with the rest of the stuff. It's a real shame.
