Whistling tunelessly...

Hello,

Well, it’s one conference down one to go. Overall I think it went well. The presentation was fine. People actually showed up and asked intelligent questions, which was a concern since I was presenting on the last day and wasn’t talking about either ballast water or zebra mussels. That is one problem with going to an aquatic invasive species ( Read more... )

I knew what tunicates were, Biol 203, what? Also - Halifax? *is jealous* and if you need any suggestions of things to see/do let me know. And, if you go to Waterloo for swing dancing you might have to continue on down the road to London for a visit. Just saying.

Ah yes, Biol 203. I think I blocked large chunks of that course from my mind maybe. What would you suggest I do in Halifax? I won't have a whole lot of time, but I have basically all of Wednesday because of how I sneakily timed my flights, and also because I'm not going to any of the discussion groups at the conference since none of them have anything remotely to do with my study organism.

Also, I can come to London for a visit. When is convenient for you? I'm good pretty much any time after next week. Oh, except for June 6th.

Well, if the weather's nice, I'd suggest a walk along the waterfront. And if you want to spend a bit of money, the Harbour Hopper Tours (~$30, I think) are really interesting from a historical point of view and show you a bit of the city from both land and water - their booth's on the waterfront, close to Murphy's on the Water (a restaurant) I believe. For a cheaper view, hop on the ferry (~$1.75, or whatever they've increased public transit fares to) and take it across to Darmouth, stay on it, and come back. You can always walk through the Public Gardens (located on Spring Garden Road and South Park; incidently, my school is right across the street). Touring the Citadel was really neat last year, Allison and I did it. If you or whoever you're with has access to a car, I'd head out to Peggy's Cove if it was a nice day. It's really spectacular to see. 'The Lower Deck' is a pub/bar down by the brewery on the waterfront with a pretty decent cover band most of the time. And food's alright too. A lot of people like Murphy's, Mother Tuckers ( ... )

I'm staying at the Lord Nelson Hotel. It's on South Park Street. Unfortunately no car, so no Peggy's Cove, but I have seen it before, even if it was a while ago. And bookstore eh? You know me well. Where is the Lower Deck if I decide I want to go?
