Season 1 - Faces and Places

Aug 17, 2004 13:11

This is for all people who have no idea about Queer as Folk at all. It gives you a very short and general introduction to the most important characters and places.

However, it's not complete yet, more pics and information will be added later on.

People

Brian Kinney (29-30 years old) (Gale Harold)

“I don’t believe in love. I believe in fucking. It’s honest, it’s efficient, you get in and out with a maximum of pleasure and a minimum of bullshit. Love is something that straight people tell themselves they’re in so they can get laid.”

No matter what he does, Brian always succeeds. He the ultimate stud of gay Pittsburgh, the top of all tops. During daytime, the ad exec shows his creative side by turning an ad for any product into a hit campaign including some kind of sexual innuendo. At night, he cruises Liberty Avenue and gets all the sex, drugs and fun he wants. Brian’s motto, No apologies, no regrets and never the same guy twice and his general I don’t give a fuck behaviour have earned him the attitude of a selfish, uncaring and arrogant bastard. His friends still love him.

Justin Taylor (17-18 years old) (Randy Harrison)

“I’ve just seen the face of God. His name is Brian Kinney.”

Young Justin starts out as a completely clueless kid who knows only one thing: I’m gay, what next? Lucky him, getting further instructions by Brian Kinney! Justin not only looses his virginity to Brian, but also his mind. He’s head over heels from minute one and starts following the older man around, becoming his teenage stalker. Step by step, Justin gets deeper and deeper involved with everything that’s tied to Brian.

Michael Novotny (29-30 years old) (Hal Sparks)

Michael’s Brian’s best friends since both were 14 and drooling over Patrick Swayze. Describes himself as the semi cute boy next door type and well, that’s just what he is. What Brian wants, Michael does. He not only adores and loves his best friend, he also lusts after him. Which doesn’t make it easy for Michael to open up enough for another man in his life.

Ted Schmidt (33 years old) (Scott Lowell)

Poor Ted is what always comes to my mind first when I think of him. Poor Ted is an accountant, and anything else than exciting. He’s very nice, but that’s not what the hot gay studs are looking for. If Ted had a dollar for any rejection, he’d be a millionaire.

Emmett Honeycutt (Peter Paige)

Emmett’s the second strong character next to Brian, although for different reasons. Emmett’s proud of what he is, the most effeminate and queeny gay of the boys. He’s adorable, witty, clever and very sweet.

Lindsay Peterson (Thea Gill)

Lindsay’s another one of Brian’s old friends, they’re close since college. And she loves him enough to choose him to be the biological father of Gus, the son she raises with her life partner Melanie. Lindsay’s an art teacher but plays mother and hausfrau for now.

Melanie Marcus (Michelle Clunie)

Melanie is a lawyer and detests Brian. She never got it why he’s her son’s father when there are so many anonymous sperm donors to choose from. Anyway, she has to deal with him now and she does it in her own way. By constantly arguing with him, which distresses Lindsay and causes even more trouble.

Gus Peterson-Marcus

Gus, named by Justin of all people, is born in the night Brian and Justin meet for the first time. Son of Lindsay and Brian, raised by Lindsay and Melanie with Brian as a drop-in-dad.

Debbie Novotny (Sharon Gless)

Michael’s mother. Loud, colourful and oh so proud of her gay son

Vic Grassi (Jack Wetherall)

Michael’s uncle, lives with his sister Debbie. Vic’s also gay and HIV positive

Jennifer Taylor (Sherry Miller)

Justin’s mother who is trying to accept her gay son

Craig Taylor

Justin’s father who doesn’t even try to accept his son

Molly Taylor

Justin’s little sister.

Daphne Chanders (Makyla Smith)

Justin's best friend

Dr David Cameron (Chris Potter)

Michael's boyfriend in Season 1

Blake Wyzecki (Dean Armstrong)

Ted's boyfriend in Season 1

Jack Kinney

Brian’s father, a cold, brutal man who sees himself as the ultimate womanizer with a drinking problem

Joan Kinney

Brian’s mother, a cold, religious woman with a drinking problem

Claire Kinney

Brian’s sister. No drinking problem yet detected, but since she’s divorced with two kids, it might be only a matter of time

Chris Hobbs

Student at Justin's school

Ryder

Brian's boss, owner of the ad agency Brian works for

Cynthia

Brian's loyal assistant

Tracy

Michael's co worker at the Big Q superstore. Tracy has a crush on Michael and no idea he's gay.

Gossip:

As far as I know, the following actors are also openly gay in real life:

Randy Harrison (Justin)
Peter Paige (Emmett)
Jack Wetherall (Uncle Vic)

But hey, don't ask a RPS writer such things, for me, everybody's gay anyway!
:P

Also, the actor's names will eventually be completed once I get around, feel free to add other names in the comments and I'll edit, thanks.

EDIT: And yes, Robert Gant (Ben Bruckner) is gay, too, but he since he's no Season 1-character, he's not featured in here;) But thanks for the hint anyway!
