D&D: Survey Time

Okay, folks. I know it's been ages since I brought this up, but despite asking everyone to come talk to me, I've heard from nearly nobody (Dot, Beatrix, you're excused on this front.) 4. We discussed that he might have been the apprentice of another wizard in the town; while I want him to be just past his youth even by the standards of his people, I think this is still feasible.
5. High adventure is certainly to be preferred!

I am still interested! I got...distracted by certain side projects.

World information would be invaluable for 2-4, I think. As well as knowing what sourcebooks you're using- there's a few from expansions I'd really like to try, and the psionic stuff, at least, is mostly available in the SRD online at d20srd.org.
