Freedom, Will and Freewill

Free Will is brandished about Christian communities in the States as an explanation of how one can be effectively pre-ordained as one of the Chosen and yet still 'turn away' from Christ. This supposed co-existance of predestination and 'free will' to choose whether or not to follow Christ is just one of the crunchy clusters of crap to be encountered in the stale cereal that is (most of) U.S. Christianity.

My purpose in posting the material was to make a sharp philosophical distinction between the concepts of Freedom, Will and Freewill within the context of Thelema. The discussion of Freewill is a perenial one much beloved of first year philosophy courses. I simply wanted to point out that a system based on Freedom & Will does not commit one to the specious notion of Freewill. I also wanted to clarify the notion of Will, and to some extent of 'True Will' (the notes on the nature of Will should do this for any bright reader ( ... )
