Every line of Heatwave's I can find.
Heatwave Dialogue
BIO QUOTE
"This is quantum hexi-crypto. Totally unbreakable. I'll need three minutes."
DO OVER
“Heatwave, sir.”
“We should be ready for a jump,” Heatwave interjected from the engineering panel. “They’ve got fifty light-years
to cross, they’ll jump as soon as they can. We can open fire once we reach the Sol system.”
“Under optimal conditions, maybe two,” Heatwave replied. “Shields are already damaged, though.”
“Distance. The gun has a firing lag we can detect. We can dodge it at this range, but if we get any closer it’s only
a matter of time. We’re too big of a target. As long as they have that cannon we can’t get close enough to finish them
off!”
“No casualties! We still have a full ship, but systems are failing across the board! All automatic navigation systems
are completely out, and manual navigation is only barely operational! Life support and heat shielding are marginal!
All escape pods are still operating and have safe re-entry routes planned, but cascading systems failures mean they
might not be safe for long! The ship should survive re-entry, but if we want to keep our mechs intact, we need to use
the escape pods now!”
“How’d you do that?” Cliffjumper howled, incredulity briefly overtaking panic.
“The ship told me!”
“Give me half a cycle!” Heatwave called out, running to Soundwave’s station. Placing one hand flat against the
console, his other hand blurred as he frantically tapped keys. “I found a reroute path… there, you have ship-wide
comm., but you better make it fast!”
Heatwave once again reached out to touch a panel. “All hands are clear. The ship’s main systems are scrambled
by an EMP pulse from a multi-megaton atomic explosion. A system reboot will take megacycles… and we obviously
don’t have that kind of time.”
“What about manual override?”
“We don’t have full thrusters, only maneuvering jets.”
THE DESERT HEAT
“Okay, Heatwave, hold it together…This is where the transponder signal is coming from, and that 'Interweb' said there was no military activity here, so getting caught isn't likely... assuming I can trust that system. It has a dirty, dirty mouth..."
"Oh, hello, Stasis Pod D-36, are you still functioning? Oh that's great!"
“Your passenger is in stasis lock. Can you repair and reformat? Awesome! Thank you!”
“Then we’d better grab them fast and start and start looking for Starscream and the Nemesis, before those weirdo humans on this planet find ‘em.”
Wait, won’t the humans find your pod?”
“Aw…he was a nice guy.”
EYE IN THE SKY
“Soundwave, you’re frightening him, let him down.”
“I think the phrase is something like, ‘we come in peace’?” The machine called Heatwave leaned over Will and Rick
and gave an uneasy smile.
“If we’re lucky, that won’t be necessary.” Heatwave looked out over the rusting acres. “We’ve not heard anything to
indicate the Autobots are functional yet, and they’re not exactly subtle.”
“Not that long,” Heatwave sighed. “Looks like your bad feeling was right, Cliffjumper.”
“I wish we knew where Astrotrain was. He could fly up there and take that thing out single-handedly.” (Heatwave?)
“I really don’t like talking to your infoweb,” Heatwave sighed as he took the offered device. “I feel like I need a decon
wash after every connection.”
“Rilly?” Ravage replied. “I think it’s full of win.”
“Is that supposed to be a euphemism for-”
Several minutes later, Heatwave looked up from his console. “Well, it wasn’t easy, but I think I’ve got it. I asked every
military base computer I could find for access. They all told me what I could do with myself… all of them except one. It
didn’t say anything at all.”
“Surely the Autobots will be ready for our attack,” Heatwave interrupted. “They’ll hit us with that orbital laser before
we even get close!”
“If you can get me to that transmitter, I should be able to talk to the base system, see what I can do.”
“I really don’t think so. Military systems are not very cooperative at all. I’m willing to bet stopping the satellite is going
to have to be done from the control room. But I should at least be able to get into the security system and guide our infiltrators.”
“Okay, Heatwave, we’re in… now what?”
“We talk it out.”
“Hello there,” Heatwave said aloud. “I am Heatwave. I’m afraid I’ve got bad news. Yes, you’ve been hijacked by a
hostile power. No, it’s not them. I don’t know who the ‘Russkies’ are, but the Autobots are worse, trust me on this. Can you
still contact the GODS?”
“I understand.
We’ll have to prevent further unauthorized access… Do you know about any other systems to control the satellite?
Just you? Yes… that will work. That’s a good idea. Can you get the main base system to cooperate? I don’t think it likes me
very much.”
“I talked to the transmitter, and it helped me negotiate with the base computer.” Just as the
roof began to crumble under him Heatwave leapt to the ground, taking the transmitter with him. “Soundwave, get in and get
the kids out of there. It’s unlocking all doors and sounding the evacuation. I think Burpleson isn’t going to be around much
longer.”
“We’d better clear out!” Heatwave howled, clutching the control system in his arms. “I think things are about to get very
hot around here! The base computer says everyone’s evacuated…”
Heatwave ran his fingers over the transmitter module. “Can you hear me up there?” His optics dimmed as he focused on
the transmitter and the distant satellite it controlled. “We’re all clear.”
[Amid the shower of ash and burning embers, Heatwave pressed his hands together. The transmitter buckled and then
collapsed under the pressure. A look of sorrow crossed his face as he hurled the remains of the control panel into the bonfire
that was once Burpleson Air Force Base.] <- NOT A QUOTE
“All the controls for the satellite are gone now.” Heatwave said to no one in particular. “It was a brave transmitter. It
knew what had to be done… it’s all over.”
BLITZWING BOP
“You getting a good look at this, Blitz?”
“Will? What are you doing over… nevermind… I think I recognize it. If I’m
right… it’s a stellar spanner. It warps space-time to allow for long-range teleportation. Like, across the galaxy.
Transwarp without the starship.”
“So… that’s bad.” Blitzwing muttered.
“Oh, yeah.”
“I’m only concerned about the spanner if it works… which I doubt.” Heatwave chuckled darkly to
himself. “Only one to ever get made was made by the Old One, and no one’s even sure if his worked. Word
is Prime knocked him off before he could finish it. I really doubt Wheeljack has the wherewithal to make this
thing functional.”
“I don’t feel comfortable betting on that.” Blitzwing replied. “The Autobots always seem inexplicably
competent when it can make things turn out badly for us.”
“Well, there’s one way to find out.”
“Hm?”
“I’m going down there to find out.”
“What… how?”
“I’m going to ask it.”
“What?! No, Heatwave, wait for reinfo-hey!”
“Blitzwing! Got out of the bonds, but I can’t talk the spanner into shutting off! You’ve gotta turn it off
from there!”
[After months on Earth, memories came
flooding back.] <- TIME ON EARTH BEFORE HEATWAVE WAS SENT BACK TO CYBERTRON
“Er, yes, thank you, Whisper.” Heatwave couldn’t help but smile at the Micromaster’s ironic moniker,
despite the assault on his audio receptors. “Sideswipe is too, most everybody is accounted for… on both sides.”
“Ah. Yeah. That’s the bad news. The ‘Bots have a functioning stellar spanner. That’s how I got here,
accidentally.”
“Megatron’s going to want to hear this,” Heatwave repeated to himself.
“Oh, right… sorry. Just… recalibrating my systems.” He folded into his missile launcher mode, revved
his engine and pulled up behind the Micromaster.
“Hey, Whisper?”
“Yeah?”
“What does ‘Keep on truckin’ mean?”
REUNIFICATION
"I'll crush the life out of you, traitor!"
I can...talk to non-sentient machines. What is it you intend?"
I can see, I can see other worlds - (POSSIBLY Heatwave. Could be any one of them, hard to tell in that panel.)
I can feel Landquake, Heatwave, and Topspin screaming for us to return to Cybertron and finish Omega Doom. Galvatron is not strong enough to stop him. I can't let myself be distracted by their hunger for combat and revenge. - NEXUS PRIME
REF. NOTES
-Heatwave's tone varies depending on the issue being read, but he typically maintains some level of formal speech pattern, or at least higher diction, even when it's mixed in with slang or more relaxed language (uses the term "weirdos" and "awesome" and shortening "them" to "'em'" but at the same time doesn't always use contractions or more familiar-sounding wording IE: "I am Heatwave" instead of "I'm Heatwave" or "My name's Heatwave" or even "My name is Heatwave")
------Moments of more obvious formality possible throwbacks to his Nexus Prime origin, which subtly affects his otherwise more casual voice?
-Does use shortened nicknames ("Blitz")
-The more focused he is, the more direct his dialogue (Compare: Excitement in Blitzwing Bop to the shuttle-crashing scene in Eye in the Sky)
-Didn't speak aloud to the ship's systems during the crash, but was willing to chatter away at the pod and transmitter. Level of stress affects willingness to vocally communicate with machines?
-Does use foul language, but not very often
-Understands some Earth slang and phrases ("Weirdos") but not others ("Keep on truckin'")
-Sighs a lot
