With her work already complete even before her visit to River's...and Faith's...bedroom, Raven instead spent most of her time since asking River out alone in her room, deep in meditation. She couldn't explain just why that other girl seemed to get under her skin the way that she did, but she was not happy about the sudden roommate change one bit. Even without this most recent distraction, Raven knew that her powers were sometimes unstable when around her closest friend, and wanted to make sure that she was especially grounded and emotionally centered before she attempted to spend the evening together with her in town.
No longer wearing her school uniform or the blue cloak that she almost always wore draped around her shoulders, instead she was clad in a pair of slightly baggy jeans and a black Evanescence shirt. Unaware of the awkward conversation on the other side of the infirmary door, Raven knocked firmly and awaited a response. When it was answered, she smiled slightly when she saw River once again. "Hey. Are you ready to go
( ... )
"Yeah," River said with a smile. She grabbed a purse and a sweater off a rack by the door. "I'll be back later," she said over her shoulder to Simon.
Simon was staring at the pair of them with what looked like suspicion. "Wha--"
"Bye!"
She closed the infirmary door behind her and threw her sweater on. She was dressed conservatively and rather primly; she wore a long blue skirt and a silk, Chinese-styled green blouse, the sweater a pale yellow. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail.
She shivered slightly at the cold night air. "The temperature's dropping... aren't you feeling cold?" she asked, noting Raven's attire.
"I'll be okay," the pale girl said in response, though there was a slight chill in the night air. "Cold weather doesn't bother me."
A few steps beyond the door, Raven could not help but sarcastically comment on the previous scene. "For someone so highly intelligent," she said about Simon, "your brother looks confused fairly often."
"Well, if you're certain. If you change your mind, I have money, and sweaters aren't very expensive. Speaking of which, I need to purchase a few items... do we have time to do so before the poetry reading, or should I fetch my items afterward?"
River burst out laughing at the remark. "Keep in mind that he spends a lot of time around me! I seem to have a knack for causing confusion."
