A recent post reminded me that I need to start testing out birthday cakes for my daughters 1st birthday! I'm ording a gourmet cake for the guests, but I plan on making my daughters. I want it to use applesauce instead of white sugar. Does anyone have any recipes for a cake like this that they've baked before?

Thanks!

I have heard that just substituting either the oil or sugar (depends on the recipe/preference) for applesauce is all you need to do.

I have only substituted applesauce once for a batch of brownies, I was out of oil and craving them (I was 7 months pregnant). They turned out pretty good, fluffier, and tasting of apples and chocolate. :D

Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks :-) So if it called for 1 cup of sugar I would put 1 cup of applesauce?

I am guessing so. I know with the oil you do.
