Georgia O’Keefe

I did my project on Georgia O’Keefe because her art was plain and that’s what I like in art, it can’t be to complicate or I’ll never understand it. She mostly did nature or natural landscapes or as in houses.

O’Keefe was born in November of 1887 in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. She studied at the Madison Sacred Heart Academy for art. Two of her teachers, William Merritt Chase and Arthur Wesley Dow, inspired Georgia. In 1907 she took still life classes at the art students league in New York. She also attended classes at the university of Virginia. In 1916 O’Keefe’s first exhibition of charcoal sketches was shown in Stieglitz’s gallery. She later married Stieglitz in 1924. Then in 1946 Stieglitz dies. O’Keefe died at the age of 98 in 1986, her ashes were later released from a top of a mountain.

O’Keefe loved art, she painted her entire life, even up to the days were she didn’t have much time left of her life. Her paintings are nationally known throughout the U.S. and maybe even Canada and Mexico.

I chose this picture to recreate because it was just what I like in paintings; it has not much detail and blended colors. It doesn’t show much emotion in this painting but it still has much character so that meant a lot in choosing one to recreate.

To me O’Keefe has shown much pride in her work and still does even after her death. Even though newer artist will come along and do some of the same line of art she has done with landscape, nothing will ever be the same; her art has changed the world in a good way. She has shown much leadership in the artist community.

Play summary

The play I went and visited was the internal teen machine at Gregory, Friday night. The play was about this boy who got really nervous around the girl that he wanted to ask to the prom or dance. When he would be around her he would start to sneeze but the expulsion of the air was never released. So he decided to try a device that would help him finish the sneeze. In the process of this he sucked up his friends threw his nose. They were lost inside of him. The immune system had detected an intruder so they went around looking for it. One of his friends was captured by the immune system and was prosecuted for being a virus or something of that sort. Then the person who they were in started to have a panic attack, this distracted the immune system allowing the captured friend to escape. The friends met back up but then were captured by the immune system. They explained how they were not a virus or what ever and they let them return to original size out side of his body. At the end the boy that couldn’t sneeze finally did and that was the end.

Advertising Research Paper

1. Advertising is something that is made so that companies can show off their product that they are attempting to sell to the public. They also do this to show off there competitive prices.

2. Advertisement purpose is to show off their new product of what ever it is that they are trying to sell.

3. Some appeals that are used in the advertisement industry are getting you to think that if you buy their product that you will look younger, more healthy, happier, stronger and other things of that sort.

4. Advertising affects my everyday life by seeing new products on TV. By seeing these products on TV makes me want to by them because they look appealing to my mind and I will find myself often buying these items.

5. Advertising reaches people by making that item look appealing to the consumer. The company that puts out that commercial will often play it many times a day so that the consumer will memorize what this product does and what it is used for.

6. Several advertising strategies that I have noticed are non-stop play of that commercial, attention getting, and something that seemed to make me look and act like a better person than I already am.

7. Several advertising appeals that I have recognized that has worked to entice me to buy goods would be non-stop play of that commercial, something funny that I would remember, and something that I found really cool or that the commercial made look like that

8. Four creative steps used in advertising are getting the point across, making what the product is and does clear, something that gets your attention, and making you think that you will become more wealthy or healthier of something of that sort.

9. I think that here in the United States has the largest advertisement industry because a lot of Americans like to buy goods and spend there money on fast food so that would be very good for the industries to have advertisements if the consumer is willing to pay for it.

10. The economics that effect how well the advertising will do is how well the economy is doing, like if we were in a depression then there wouldn’t be as much advertising because not as many people would go off and blow away there money on stuff that they don’t need.

11. Social effects on advertising are that if someone hears a bad rumor about a product that is heavily advertised then there are not as likely to buy that item because of a bad experience with a product that they know someone who has bought. This could turn huge and destroy that product fast or slow.

12. Political effects on advertising is that a someone involved with politics uses this item or what ever and then makes that item more popular or if that person is a corrupt political figure then they could send a bad image for that product.

13. The first purpose of advertising is to show what the product is and to get the consumer to purchase this item.

14. Different jobs that could be found in the advertising industry would be directing the commercial, staring in the commercial, and thinking of the commercial or creating what is said and what happens in the commercial.

15. I think that I react differently to how advertising works because I now know how it works, and that its not all what it appears to be. I now know to listen for details after the main part of the commercial, and that it wont make me richer, healthier, or better looking, so next time I go out and buy something I will be sure to think of all these factors.

My experiment was to find out which type of metal transmits the most voltage. I found out that aluminum sends the most voltage, it averages 14.44 out of 14.28 volts being sent. This data is correct because I tested it three times. Something interesting that I found out in this experiment was that not only does the wire send the same amount of voltage, but it will also pull more out. I found that really interesting because electricity companies must have to lower the voltage when sending it out, or else the appliance receiving the electricity would make it break. This could be carried further because if something in your household might not work so well, or looks like its dying, you can check the connection and how well the wire is in shape. Perhaps overtime the wire has created friction inside of it, this happening will definitely create a major problem. This happening will make the wire cease to function properly or will just die.

The Columbia goes down

Is this tragedy a tragedy at all? Well, it’s only a small crash. It’s not like it will hugely alter history forever. It’s no more than an automobile accident except for the fact that it occurred 39 miles above the ground. My history teacher asked us about this and whether it would impact our lives just as September 11 did two years ago. Not one person in Mr. Lademann’s history class replied and said that it did. Therefore, we believed that it has not really affected us. The only major deal with this is that people will not have as much confidence in our space program as they once did.

Computer programmer

I Poof! Ugh, there goes my paper that I’ve been typing for an hour, just because a stupid computer program malfunctioned. I have always been fascinated by computers because they seem to control everything. Since the first computer my family owned was primitive, in fact the screen was in black and green, it controlled very little. As a result of my only having a primitive computer it makes me want to develop new software, and to also create smaller yet faster computers. For all that to happen I would have to become a computer programmer. The pay is horrible, and the hours are long. Then again who cares what the pay is, as long its something you want to do, which I do.

How to Put Together a Skateboard

Have you ever wondered how to put together a skateboard? It may not seem that difficult once you know what you’re doing; but if you don’t, then you could have a problem. I know what it’s like to have to put together a skateboard without any help, because I self taught myself. It took me many times to get it right, but then I finally got it.
First of all, the following materials will be needed. The builder will need a deck. A deck actually piece of the wood which the riders stands on. A set of trucks, the metal part of a skateboard that connects the deck to the wheels, then is needed. Bearings, the metal doughnut shaped devices which contain the little balls that make the wheels spin, are also needed. Four small wheels are used. There are different sizes of wheels. The larger the size, the more the complete skateboard will weigh. Eight bolts that are little inch-sized screws are needed to connect the trucks to the deck. The bolts usually come with one or two different colored ones so the builder can tell between the nose and tail of the skateboard. Grip tape that is similar to sandpaper will keep the rider’s feet griped on the deck. The tools that will be needed are a set of socket wrenches, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a razor blade. A skate tool can be used but is not required unless the builder doesn’t have socket wrenches or a Phillips head screwdriver.
When starting to construct the skateboard, peal off the backside of the piece of grip tape so that the sticky part faces down. From here lay the grip tape down across the deck that is faced so that the curved ends are facing upward. Make sure there are no air bubbles. There will be some grip tape hanging off the sides of the deck so the builder will need to take the razor blade and cut this off around the sides of the deck. The bolt holes are pre-drilled into the deck so take a screwdriver (Phillips head ones work the best) and punch holes in the grip tape where the bolts go.
Now its time to install the set of trucks, but before starting on this, it is necessary to determine where the truck is being installed either on the nose or the tail. To figure this out look at the part of the deck that is sticking up is highest. This will be the nose. Now take the deck and flip it over so that it’s on top of its nose and tail. Set the truck so that the platform of the truck is on the deck and that the bar is facing away from the middle of the deck on the nose. Then take both colored bolts and two regular ones with nuts and insert them through the holes and through the deck (make sure that the side that the nut is on will be on the bottom). Now tighten them with your socket wrenches and Phillips head screwdriver or your skate tool. Now repeat this same process on the tail.
It is time for the wheels. First take a wheel and set it down so that the surface of the table can be seen through the hole place a bearing on top of the wheel, use a screwdriver to push it into the hole as far as it will go. Then flip over the wheel and do this to the other side; repeat this process to all four wheels. To install the wheels, first take your socket wrenches and remove the bolt on the side of the truck and remove the first speed ring. Insert the wheel on to the rod, then place the speed washer back on, and screw the nut back on. Then repeat this process to all four sides of your trucks.
Now it’s done. Congratulations you have just put together a skateboard. Now you can go show off your mad skateboarding tricks to the world!

My name is Andrew

If I were a color,
I’d be the color black
I’d be as black as the night sky, as the afternoon sun goes down

If I were an animal,
I’d be a rhino,
Strong, tough, and fast

My favorite place would be a skate park
This is a place I could get away from school and have fun

My favorite snack is Buffalo wings,
Spicy yet mild with sauce

I get really upset when people ignore me
It makes me feel like I’m not there and like no one cares

I love to skate,
I have fun, and I could get away from the hassles of everyday life

Interview summary

My uncle don works on computers, he is not exactly a computer programmer but something like that. I found out that there is little writing unless its notes on what your doing or something of that sort. He has to read computer books about new software to stay up to date. He has to often check over his own work before he has someone else check it. He has to talk to other people about problems and have them check things over. Very few math skills are required for this, no science skills are needed. A lot of technology skills are needed because that’s all you work with is technology. Most of all is grammar skills because they need to make sure there are no errors in what they just wrote. He has to work long hours during the week and doesn’t always get holidays off.

Lincoln Steffens

1. Lincoln Steffens

2. Lincoln Steffens was a writer who exposed lots of corrupt politicians, he was then known from this as a muckraker, a muckraker is someone who collects dirt on people.

3. He tried to help get rid of political corruption by exposing them to the public bye writing books on them.

4. People involved with this were Lincoln Steffens, Ida Tarbell, and Ray Stannard Baker.

5. I think that my topic helped the economy because people might not do as much damage being a politician and abusing their powers and driving down the government. Because they might be scared that he would find out about it then writes about it then they could get arrested for it.

Florida
Finally, I have made it to my favorite of them all Universal studios! As you hear the screams from the entrance I knew it was gonna be an awesome experience! As my friend John and I walk in we headed straight for the bathrooms so we wouldn’t have to go later on. Soon after we saw it, King Kong one of the best rides there! John requested “do we have to go on this I might get sick, after all I don’t overly like going on rides.” So I replied what anyone else would have replied “we travel many miles to come here, we buy the expensive tickets and now you won’t go on a good but yet still mild rid?” “Ah, fine ill go but just because you want me too so bad!” he unseemly said. So we hoped aboard the line and waited a good 15 minutes before boarding the cart. The cart goes through many turns and twists around King Kong, but nothing too sickening.

Johns mom Barb who had paid for her friend Debbie, me, John, and herself to go to Florida had wanted to go into some boring old souvenir store. All the times before going to any theme park my family and friends never wanted to go to any but she wanted to go in to them all! Uh, I hated it so much I would get extremely bored just siting around waiting for them so I would often grab a candy bar and wait out front on there slimy and sticky benches. Every time when they would finally come out of the store I would have a massive sigh of relief. I also hated buying the parks cheaply made souvenirs that are very expensive so I didn’t at all!

We all huddled around Debbie looking at the ripped up map to see what ride we were around, after talking and discussing for around ten minutes we then planned to head over to E.T. the ride. None of the four of us had ever been on that ride before so we went. On the way they had some really cool looking scenery from the movie. It was almost as if you were in a cold forest at night with many stars above. The railing there were slick feeling to it witch made you want to wash your hands after touching it for just a moment. Twenty minutes have gone by and the time came to give your name to a guy siting behind a computer to put in your name. We hopped aboard the so-called “bikes” and took off. In front of me was a basket with E.T. in side. It wasn’t really him because I know it’s just a movie and it’s not real, but I can see why little kids would be scared of it. We went around trees and then passing by all theses little aliens who would say your name, oh, so that’s why they needed your name at the beginning of the ride we all thought!

“What do you guys want to eat?” asked Barb, “lets see what there is, pizza, hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, and for the sodas what type do u want?” since John and I booth love pizza we quickly said it in unison and also coke. Barb and Debbie went up to order a large pizza and some cokes, John and I waited at a table. We talked about what rides we wanted to go on next for around fifteen minutes, and there it was a hot, and makes your mouth water pizza! Umm, it looked so good but it was too hot to eat at first so we had to wait. It was gone in less than ten minutes!

It was now 5:00 we had ridden about six rides and we were exhausted! So we went on just one more ride which had a very small line to wait in. The line wasn’t moving at all. Then over the loud speaker we hear “ladies and gentle men please excuse this interruption, we are having minor difficulties at this time you may have to wait twenty more minutes or more in order to ride this ride, that will be all thank you.” Everyone groaned, no one wanted to wait so we left. Since we didn’t ride that ride we decided to leave. We headed back over to the hotel and packed because we were leaving the next day.

Science question number 7

I think that the best option for the amusement park area space would be go to the tomato processing plant. I chose this one over all the other options because it seems to be the cleanest operation overall. Besides the fact that it uses pesticides to kill off bugs, but these can be washed off to make the product as clean and safe to use too. This plant also produces more then one product because of the seeds that are taken out of the tomato are used to grow up for the plants that are used to make the catsup. This plant is environmentally safe and the waste products are non-toxic that will eventually biodegrade. It also is a large provider of jobs around 1400 to be exact. That is enough to keep most of the population that is unemployed there with a good paying job. They won’t have to move because there are a lack of jobs available. The source made to make these products is a renewable resource unlike other ones such as the rhino Gas Company. Also, this plant wouldn’t have to pollute the air with the smoke that comes from smokestacks. If anything this would help the air because plants breathe carbon dioxide, and then turn it into oxygen which helps give us cleaner air.

The Puddle Problem

The fist way that I would use to measure a puddle would be to take a piece of string and put it all the way around the puddle. Next I would mark where the ends meat and take a meter stick or ruler and measure it. The next thing I would do is measuring the diameter of the puddle. I would find out the answer to this by taking the ruler or meter stick and holding it across the puddle to measure the diameter of it. To find out the total mass of it, you could extract all of the water inside of it, and using this you could put it into a measuring cup to find out how many litters are in it. Doing this you could also weigh it. Another thing that could be done is to find out the depth by just sticking the meter stick into the middle of the puddle and finding that out. Or you could measure lots of different parts of the puddle and then average them.
