costco! And I'm pretty sure you don't need a card to see the doctor or get glasses. I have a card if you need it. But I have highly specialized lenses and lenscrafters quoted me something like $300 for the lenses and I got them at costco for $110.

brilliant! i didn't think about them. i kind of want a costco card anyway, for things like toilet paper and granola bars.
how much is a costco card these days?

p.s. lens crafters said they wanted 200 just for the lenses, which is insane. INSANE considering how light my prescription is.

I think it's $40 a year. I piggyback on my sister's.

i'd also try this place called dean optical. it's on monroe street downtown. i got lenses for SUPER cheap there (only $15 but that was with insurance but it was still like $100 cheaper than everywhere else i called). it may be worth trying...
