I

The thing about Jaejoong, Yunho decides, is that he’s too bloody strung up. “It’ll be okay,” he tells Jaejoong in the dark of the living room, where the only light is from the cold glow of streetlights standing lonely on the roads outside. “It’ll be okay. Everything will be okay.” Jaejoong merely scoffs and hides his face in the crook of Yunho’s neck, a small “If you say so” that reeks of unbelief.

Careful hands pass over the thin material of Jaejoong’s shirt and Yunho is seeking out the tensed knots of muscle in Jaejoong’s back, pressing as gently as possible into them to ease them loose. Jaejoong doesn’t eat quite enough these days, but Yunho doesn’t chide him. The last thing they need right now are wasted words and hours spent angry at each other when time, time is a precious commodity here.

“Relax,” Yunho breathes and Jaejoong shifts, wraith-like against him. Fingers tangle themselves in Yunho’s hair, tugging on one particularly long strand until it comes loose to fall behind the couch to make acquaintances with all the loose change and forgotten receipts there. Jaejoong laughs until he sobs, holding Yunho’s face in his hands. Kissing in the dark like fumbling teenagers, every heartbeat and every silent crash of lips against skin like sweet reassurance. Everything will be okay.

Yunho is dying.

Everything will be okay.

(Lonely Hands, Angus and Julia Stone)

II

Sun and surf. Jaejoong stumbles in seawater that comes up to his knees, laughing with a wild abandon that makes Yunho’s heart ache. This is yours, ba-dump, This is yours to keep, ba-dump. The rhythm stutters against his chest when Jaejoong presses saltwater kisses on the tips of his fingers and smears wet sand on the side of his face. “Come into the water with me,” Jaejoong says with a smile that Yunho knows can break more than just hearts. His resolve is already cracked in a few dozen places. “It’s warm.”

Jaejoong doesn’t lie; the water comes up to his thighs before Jaejoong tackles him and they flail, spluttering water and Yunho trying his best to pretend to be angry at being dunked. It is a spectacular failure. By sunset, the salt has caked in his hair and Jaejoong has caught a pair of translucent looking crabs with nothing more than a shoelace and his bare hands. They scuttle around, clicking softly on the bright yellow plastic as Jaejoong stretches out on the sand, Yunho’s hand resting on the warmth of his torso.

“Where should we go tomorrow?” Jaejoong asks simply. Yunho lifts his head in time to see the sun disappear over the horizon, the crabs having fallen strangely silent. Out of the corner of his eye, two tiny shadows are moving together towards the water. The yellow pail lies on its side and Jaejoong toes it lazily, tracing Yunho’s fingers with his own. “Anywhere we want to go,” Yunho says in return and he doesn’t lie either, these days.

There isn’t any reason to, when the world doesn’t care anymore.

III

Teeth like razorblades against his neck and for one split second, Jaejoong hesitates. In the end, it is Yunho who curves his hand around the back Jaejoong’s head, drawing him closer so that skin breaks and Jaejoong drinks deep, Yunho shuddering in his arms. “God,” Jaejoong whispers after that and Yunho is still shivering, trying to smile in the early light of dawn. “You shouldn’t say that,” Yunho attempts weakly and laughs, his hand coming away bloody when he gingerly touches the side of his neck.

Jaejoong licks every digit clean and Yunho supposes he shouldn’t rear up into Jaejoong’s kiss after that, but he does anyways.

(Illuminated, Hurts)

A/N- writing practice? I actually wanted to write something full of guns, dirty talk and bloodshed but somehow this happened the moment Angus and Julia Stone came on my playlist. (These) indicate what I was listening to while writing but my song choices don't...really fit :D hee. Also, long time no see, fandom :) help_japan long!fic hopefully coming up within this month~
