It's finally ready for posting, people! Like my first fic, this one has taken on a life of it's own and is turning out longer than I intended, so I figured I'd start posting it anyway and see where it goes from there.
Besides, after last night's episode, it looks like Chlark will only live on in fandom, so I'd like to do my own bit to lend it some life support! :(
Anyhew, here it is. Enjoy. And as always, feedback = lurve!

Prologue
Present Day
“Come home…
Come home…
You don’t have to be alone anymore
There are open arms, and an open door…”
“Do you mind if we listened to something else, Greg?” Clark asked, irritably.
“Er…sure man, no problem,” the other man said, somewhat surprised at Clark’s tone. He picked up his I-pod shuffle and shook it till he heard Black Eyed Peas blaring out of the speakers he’d connected to the tiny player.
“Better?” he asked.
“Much, thanks,” Clark replied, and swivelled back to face the article he was working on at the Daily Planet. Or at least, should be working on. As always, his mind was elsewhere.
Everyday.
Every minute of everyday.
That’s how often she crept into his thoughts.
Forget creeping. She was with him 24/7, from the moment he opened his eyes till his head touched down on his pillow at night.
Except she wasn’t…not the way he wanted her to be. And all because of his darned lies. If he’d only been honest with her…
Clark sighed. As if to add to his torment, strains of the Black Eyed Peas song aptly titled ‘Don’t Lie’ filled the air, pricking his conscience further.
“She said ‘I'm leaving’,
‘Cos she can't take the pain
It's hard to continue this love it ain't the same
Can't forget the things that I've done inside her brain…”
Damn. Did everything have to remind him of what an idiot he’d been?
“No, no, no, no baby, no, no, no, no don't lie…
No, no, no, no, yeah, you know, know, know, know, you gotta try…
What you gonna do when it all comes out
When I really see you & what you're all about…”
Clark buried his head in his hands and groaned. He knew all too well what happened when the truth came out…remembered it like it was yesterday…
