Time is totally flying on by.  I can't believe it's mid-April already!  It's also tax day.  Blegh.  Luckily we got ours taken care of last week or so.  The weather has been absolutely dreary this month.  Cold and wet.  Yukkiness.  When is the warm spring weather going to kick in?  I know it's here already because my lawn is covered with chirping ( Read more... )

since your little man is named after a hockey player, i expect that he's only playing some hockey in your belly. hehe.

i think 12 weeks is the mandated maternity leave. curious, i looked up maternity leave and what kind of flexibility i'd have under the dept of ed and it's very similar except i think they allow more flexibility for the mom to extend her leave to care for the baby (but at this point it'd be w/o pay and benefits). that sucks that you have to go back to work so soon after spending so little time with your baby. =/

Maternity leave is so crazy and varies so much from state to state and company to company. Fortunately for me our company pays what the state doesn't pay so we get full pay during maternity leave. In California you get 4 weeks (i only took 2 wks before) before the birth of your child (to prepare) and then 6 weeks after the birth of your child. My paid leave (full pay) was 16 weeks total. I am on bonding leave now (california state pays for 6 weeks of that after you use up the 4 weeks before and the 6 weeks after) My company does not pay for time off for bonding leave so I am getting state disability payments. Meanwhile I am using vacation time at work for the time off. the bonding leave money is "extra" pocket money ( ... )
