I don't dare to! My sister used to do it when we were living together but now I just get the people at the seafood store to do it when I buy the crabs.
I have a similar recipe but I've only ever used it to cook tiger prawns as it's hard to find good crabs here. Saw a documentary on the Asian Food Chanell on Singapore's chilli crabs and it made me crave for them so much!
Are pippis (otherwise known as la-la in Singapore) readily available? The sauce is good with that too! When I cook it with pippis I use the stock from steaming the pippis for the sauce instead of water. :)
Not too sure. Sibu's not really known for fresh seafood. We have crabs but hard to find those big fleshy types. Gonna cook this after I have my confinement!
I've never tried it with prawns but it's good with la la too. Just retain the water from steaming the la la so you can use it when cooking the sauce. And I've added you back. :)
