For a story can only start so many ways, but it's hard to tell where it is going...

When the sun finally rises again, each guest will find him or herself back in their original room, with the door locked and a costume hanging beside it. The door will open - but only after they put on the clothes. When they leave, guests will find themselves descending a winding staircase into a dizzying room built entirely in crystal; the floor, transparent, has what looks like water below it with dark shapes swimming too far down to be distinct. The world seems to be moving outside the windows, trees and hills rolling steadily by as though the crystal room is a landlocked boat sailing through the Wood.

Tables along the walls offer refreshments - unmagicked, though it’s anyone’s guess who would believe that at this point. The serving dishes, like the rest of the décor, is crystalline and transparent.

The costumes range from the simple to the extreme. From a tall man in a simple mask to a fairy on stilts in a gown that trails to the floor, no two are alike and all suit their wearer in some particular way. The fae mingle, talk, and for one of the few times in the year are free to say what they wish without fear of being recognized.

Guests may find some of them are extremely honest, given the chance to be.
