Alec is bored.

Not that that isn't relatively easy to do, but he decided to stick around the castle tonight, and he's already considering that a bit of a mistake. The people that he's crashing with? Not really the social types. Not that Alec should really care, but they all did sell their souls to their fairy overlords. You'd think that they'd want to commiserate.

(Let's ignore for a second that Alec doesn't really have a soul to sell. For him, it's more like he sold his dignity, but that's just details.)

He's currently wandering the hallways of the castle, trying to see if there's anything he hasn't explored yet or anyone he hasn't talked to. He's been keeping a running count of the people there in his head and while he hasn't gotten face time with all of them, he wants to. Easier to tell if they go missing that way. Or ... for them to tell if he goes missing. Alec, the Super Boy Scout. Always prepared.

Back in the barracks, Castiel is sitting on the wall of the barracks.

Yes, there's snow.

No, he doesn't really care.

For once, he isn't bouncing around the place like a ping-pong ball. He's finally starting to hit that "acceptance" phase of life in the wood, and it's not exactly a comforting feeling. He is worried. There is such a delicate balance here, so easily disturbed by the arrival and sudden departure of new people that he's not entirely sure where his place in it all is. He feels purposeless. There isn't a feeling that Castiel hates more than that.

For now, however, he's sitting on the top of the barracks, looking out over the people below him and trying to figure out where he is supposed to fit in. He could protect people, help people, maybe. But that wasn't a purpose. That isn't all he can be here. But for now, he just sits. Thinking is easier than trying to do anything else.

And finally, just outside the south wall, there is ... not such a friendly sight.

First of all, there's a carcass. Not an unfamiliar sight when Buffy Summers is the girl standing next to it, but it's a nasty looking beast with a nice big tree branch shoved through it's heart. It was the only weapon she had on her at the time, alright? Then there's Buffy herself, covered in blood that (mostly) isn't hers, and just looking more than a little annoyed. Those are new shoes, courtesy of Tempest, and she really wanted to try and keep them blood free for as long as possible.

Finally, there's a half-finished snowman. She hadn't even been patrolling at the time. Fairly safe to say that Buffy strongly dislikes her life today.

"Great. Now I need a new shirt."
