It's not easy having yourself a good time; Greasing up those bets and betters [OTA; mtw]

[ooc: back from the dead ;o;/ This should be set just after stuff returned to normal!]

It had been a strange couple of weeks even by Dante's standards. Months? Weeks. Eh, in all honestly he'd lost count and at this rate who cares anyway? There had been that monster siege, and the search and rescue... Then he'd taken a vacation trek into the dark ( Read more... )

Fred has been meandering back to this tree now and then, ever since he and George found some of their things under it; if there's a chance something else might show, he'll take it.

But this time he comes across another person, recognizing the hair and build as Dante... and he appears to be in conversation with something unknown.

"What exactly are you talking to, mate? Is the tree suddenly sentient?"

The sudden intrusion of another person's voice startles him out of his daydream. In the process it even surprises him enough to twitch as if holding back a surprised yelp. By Dante's standard that meant he'd been caught off guard enough that if he was a normal person he'd be grasping his chest in a heart-attack. Not that the red head needed to know he'd just managed what the legions Hell seldom did.

In conclusion, Dante jerked his head back at Fred and gave the guy the mandatory accusatory glare; before shrugging it off and side-eyeing the tree.

"Dude, I hope not. Got enough o' creepy forest out there don't we?" Though he wouldn't be surprised if it was sentient. Damn trees. "...And I was talking to my mum." He adds while turning around--the old picture frame in his hand now plainly visible.

Fred smirks slightly, having caught the twitch and been on the receiving end of a glare (as if that has never happened before), but he says nothing about it.

Then he shrugs, tilting his head at the tree. A sentient tree would be reminiscent of home, and given everything else in these woods, he was a bit surprised that he hadn't found one yet. "Creepy things, sure, but none of the trees are of the intelligent sort. Could make things interesting."

But he peers at the picture, expecting it to be waving or something, only to see the woman is pretty stationary. "Well that was anti-climatic. She's not even moving."

"Says you." Dante snorts and eyes the tree again. Just because they didn't act intelligent didn't mean a thing -some sentient and intelligent shit could be sneaky assholes. There could be a discussion there but he shrugged it off as pointless. Instead, he raises an eyebrow at the odd comment about photograph.

Anti-climatic?

The look Dante gives Fred then and there suggests he takes great offence at his family being associated in any way with 'anti-climatic'. His family was anything BUT anti-climatic, thankyouverymuchyoujerk. Especially his mum who even under the most dreary circumstances was the best person ever. Total rude insult, dude.

"It's a photo, dude. They usually don't." A pause, he remembers the crazy circumstances and adds "... Where I come from."
