Spencer arrived at Beckett's cabin about 5 minutes before the time specified. He had been waiting all day for this, as strange as that was to admit to himself. Kate had been second-guessing her decision to allow anyone to see her mother's murder board all morning. Finally, she had decided that if anyone here was going to see it, it might as well be Spencer Reid. The fact was, she wanted a profiler's perspective, and he was here. And they were friends. Sort of.

She started slightly at his knock, then hurried to the door.

"Reid, hey. Come on in."

"Beckett."

He gave her a brief smile, then entered the cabin. It was spartan, and though that was not unusual for the barracks, he felt like hers was particularly stark, save for the large bulletin board which covered one of the windows. It drew his eyes almost immediately.

She gestured to the board somewhat awkwardly, encouraging him to move closer.

"This is it. Every ounce of information I could get my hands on about my mother's murder. Twelve years of information. Take a look."

Spencer moved closer to the board, his eyes scanning each picture and document. There was a picture of a woman wearing old fashioned clothing who was slumped against a garbage pail in an alley, stabbed in the chest. She looked quite a bit like Beckett.

"Can you brief me a bit?"
