It has been a good two days in the Corcoran house.

At yesterday's doctor appointment Tristyn weighed in at 5lbs 9oz -- a full 6oz over her birthweight! She has also begun waking herself (and mommy) up a half hour before her 3-hour time limit for feedings. This is a great sign that her body is registering and responding to hunger signals. Not gonna lie . . . today was rough.

Juggling a preemie's eating schedule while attempting to insert myself back into the household proved fairly difficult. Gideon and I are out of sync, which is to be expected since it is my second two-week absence in less than four months. We are home. And, while I feel the need to go to the grocery store, do several loads of laundry and organize Tristyn's clothes, both my children are in bed and I have decided that is where I should be also. Nap time!

We are packing to go home.

After meeting with Dr. Carroll this morning we got the final go-ahead to be discharged today. Even though last night was not the smoothest for Tristyn and me as far as nursing, he is still confident we are ready.
 And so am I.

We met with the doctor this morning after an amazing (and sleep-deprived) night of nursing with Tristyn. He was so pleased with her progress he said the next step would be to have her room in with us tonight! He then started talking to us about possibly discharging her tomorrow.

After 12 days and with the exception of being wheeled across the street for my second blood patch I will be leaving the hospital this afternoon for a few hours.

After rounds this morning the doctor decided Tristyn is eating so well that we will start spacing out her feedings to four ( Read more... )

At both the midnight and 6am feeding Tristyn was able to get 40 ccs during breastfeeding. Because it is within 5 ccs of what is considered a full feeding they don't give her any milk through her feeding tube. So, she had two full feedings straight from mommy last night!! She is now up to 4lbs 15oz.

She is a Rock Star!

Just returned from some sweet cuddle time with Tristyn. It was her reward for her amazing progress with the breastfeeding. We breastfed two times in the night (which means I am now experiencing the new-mommy-no-sleep syndrome) at 3 am and 6 am. It takes about an hour for the whole process but she was able to get 20 ccs ( Read more... )
