Well, considering "sleeping through the night" is a relative term, and most often used to mean a stretch more than 5 hours (I know, weird) I'm going to say it took all of 3 days for my little one to catch on. He was 3 weeks old when we started BW and he thrived on it. He was on a 2 hour schedule and would be put down at 6pm and sleep till about 10pm then till 4 or 5 in the mornin'. Not bad I say.
HOWEVER, I just got the Babywise 2 book and started following the recommendation of eliminating the 3rd nap of the day for my 6 and a half month old, and he slept, for the first time in a long time, from 7pm to 6am last night. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amy was 12 weeks - On Christmas, actually. We woke up Christmas morning to a "whoa, Amy didn't wake up last night!"
Kate was a little older - 13 or 14 weeks, maybe? But she was in a bassinet right by my bed and I woke up at the slightest noise from her, and I tended to be a bit too groggy for coherent "Parental Assessment" at 3 in the morning, so I don't know if I put off her sleeping a full night because I wasn't giving her some time to go back to sleep on her own. But no worries, because she still dropped the night feeding on her own.
In fact, both girls started sleeping through on their own...I never had to "night wean" them. Babywise rocks. :)
So, my babywise champion first baby started sleeping "through" at 6 weeks. And I think it was because he was not in our room with us.
My second baby took FOREVER because she slept in our room so she wouldn't wake up older brother. I finally made the decision at 2 months that I was not going to respond to every grunt and she started putting herself back to sleep almost immediately.
We moved to a new house before my third baby was born and because he had his own room, he slept through at about 4 weeks.
Phoebe was sleeping through the night at 4 weeks, Daphne took waaay longer though because first she had pneumonia and the flu at three months and then at 4 moths she had pnuemoni and RSV and then we moved out of state and back to Utah so she was like six months old before she actually selpt through the night or even got on a mormal schedule.
