Oregon Trail party

I think I want to have an Oregon Trail party sometime. The central activity would be playing Oregon Trail as a group, with the game up on the big TV so everyone can watch easily. Food could be lasagna with all the normal side stuff (garlic bread, salad, wine, and all that), which is a dinner party I've wanted to do for a while. Or it could be ( Read more... )

If you have a non-Intel mac I could IM it to you (it runs in OS 9, which isn't on the intel macs). I've had it for about a year, but I think I got it from here - http://www.classicgaming.com/rotw/otrail.shtml (I remember getting the link from the Wikipedia entry about Oregon Trail, and that's where I got this link, and it looks familiar...). If you have an intel mac, or a PC, I'm not sure where it could be found, but I'm definately looking for it (it's one reason I haven't upgraded my computer in a while, and at least one of my brothers needs it too).

oh man I'd totally at least try to be in for that party. Were there vegetarians back then or would I have to eat the pot roast? Anyway, we could make the food three days in advance and leave it sitting out so that maybe, just maybe, we'd all die of dysentary afterwards! Except you zen--you'd make it to the finish line but not before we broke your arm. Life back then must've been awesome!

I'm sure we could find some non-meat for you - maybe fresh fruits and veggies? Maybe I'll also have an Oregon Trail brunch sometime - my brunches feature belgian waffles (which can include walnuts, blueberries, or chocolate chips, and can be topped with strawberries, maple syrup, or whipped cream - but no meat). Are there any days of the week or dates that work better or worse for you?

Er, well, saturday nights work better than other nights because they're typically the only nights I'm not working a bunch. But my saturday nights are all booked up for at least a couple weeks. If you were to book a given saturday night in late jan or thereafter, there is some probability that I could make it. Like 50%? It's always hilarious when budding yound bankers we're interviewing for the analyst position ask about the "work/life balance".

I guess what I'm saying is, I try to make sure people don't plan around my schedule because of how subject to change it is.

That would kick some serious ass, but I think you're probably too far away.

I'll come if you serve buffalo and pretend you have typhoid fever = P

Seriously, though, that sounds like a lot of fun. And I heart lasagna.
