OK BITCHES I went to see Adam Lambert twice this weekend AND HERE IS EVERYTHING YOU (DON'T) WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THAT!
YES YES I’m a crazy Glambert and not ashamed of it.
19-11 Cologne
As soon as Adam announced European dates I was determined to go to at least one of them. The Paradiso gig was announced later, so I first thought he wouldn’t come to Holland at all so I quickly plotted a trip to Cologne as it was the closest city. Then he DID announce a gig in Amsterdam the day after Cologne so yay, two gigs in one weekend!
I picked up Gemma from the airport in the morning, she’s a girl from Manchester who I basically met through twitter but I offered her a lift to Germany immediately since I didn’t feel like driving that far all on my own. We got on great in real life luckily and the drive to Cologne went by rather quickly. We parked in a quite scary garage and got changed and did our make-up in the car which was a bit funny because old men kept showing up in cars just when one of us was doing stuff like putting on tights while laying on the backseat XD and when I went outside and saw myself in a window I realised that because of how dark it was inside my make-up was way heavier than I had thought, I was wearing huge silver fake lashes and combined with my outfit of tight short blue leopardprint dress and starry platform boots plus my huge hair I looked like an absolute dragqueen, but hey, it fit the occasion. Gemma and I joined the queue at about 3pm, and we immediately made a new friend :D a girl from Haarlem called Frankie, she turned out to be a lot of fun. Niko was there too, but he had bought a VIP pass so he could go into the venue earlier and get a meet & greet so he was standing in a separate queue. The m&g was supposed to start at about 6, so I was pretty surprised when Niko suddenly showed up at 5 to 6 to ask me how much I was willing to pay for a VIP pass. I was a little confused because I was sure you couldn’t just take someone else’s pass because they are registered by name, but this was apparently some kind of special pass? I don’t even know where it came from. Anyway, first I was like ‘errr I dunno’ because I really hate the idea of paying to meet someone, but then I realised that I could go in earlier and get a great spot and be rid of the cold outside and also get a hug and a picture with Adam. I mean, I’ve spent money on less enjoyable things… so I checked how much there was in my wallet and made a brilliant deal :D Gemma didn’t mind that I went because she had a VIP for Amsterdam, so I thought why the fuck not. Everything went pretty quickly then, suddenly I was inside, Neil (Adam’s sarcastic and bitchy brother) showed up and then suddenly Adam was there!! I had a bit of a fangirl freakout and hid behind Niko. I figured we were at the back of the line, but apparently Neil considered in the front because he called me and Niko forward first. Adam immediately recognised Niko (obviously lol) I didn’t really know what to say because I was not exactly prepared for this, so I just asked for a hug and an autograph and said I’d see him again in Amsterdam. I felt a little silly posing for the picture because I was almost as tall as Adam in my platforms (and because I generally felt like a bit of a tosser, I really can’t deal with meeting people I pretty much worship). We snatched a great spot on the front row, right in front of Tommy :D I kept turning around to look at Adam handling the rest of the m&g, he is SO gorgeous in real life it’s scary. I hate the girls who say ‘Oh it’s such a shame Adam is gay’ because that only makes him even more awesome to me, but if only I were a pretty gay boy! Anyway. (My pic with Adam from here has still not been uploaded to the fanclub, of which I'm not even a member in the first place... but someone will find it for me eventually) EDIT: fuck that, someone found it!

There was a support act, they didn’t suck but that’s all I can say about them, and they were kinda cute I guess. (Apparently Adam agrees with me because there are pics of him coming on to them lol) I was really just waiting for Adam to come on. AND THEN HE FINALLY DIDDDD! It was so weird to see it all in real life, I’ve watched like a million youtube clips and then suddenly it was all happening right in front of me. His voice is just UNbelievable, he truly is up there with Robert Plant, Freddy Mercury etc. When it comes to the album, I tend to care less for the slow songs. I mean, I love them and definitely listen to them a lot but my favourites are usually Fever, If I Had You, Music Again etc but live he absolutely blew me away with Soaked. I nearly cried it was so beautiful. The show is just awesome from beginning to end, I loved the bits with the dancers and all the interaction with the band and all Adam’s amazing costumes. It was Monte’s (guitarist) birthday and the crowd sang Happy Birthday to him like 3 times. The encore was spectacular, they did Purple Haze and Whole Lotta Love! His voice was just MADE for songs like that, and of course he went with the popular mishearing of the lyrics in Purple Haze and snogged Tommy’s face off at ‘Scuse me while I kiss this guy’ XD I could go on an on about it forever but here’s some videos and pics to prove my point better:

After the gig we went and got the car, I changed into my normal shows because my dragqueen boots were killing me, and on Niko’s advice we parked in the street where Adam + entourage where going to come out of the venue at some point. I didn’t really care for this ultimate fangirl cliché of waiting at a gate for someone to come and sign stuff in a rush because they feel obliged to, so I just stood there and watched. I did have a look when Sasha and Taylor (dancers) came around to talk and they both told me they loved my jacket :D (black trenchcoat with silver spikes, it turned out to be popular this weekend BUT MORE ON THAT LATER!!!) Adam did show up at some point but I didn’t try to talk to him or anything, I’d had my moment at the m&g :)
Gemma and I decided it was time to go home, so we said goodbye to everyone. There was a bit of a lulzy moment before we left, I was getting into the car and another car stopped next to us and there were two guys in it who asked ‘Who is Adam Lambert?’ so I explained that he’s a pop/rock singer who came in second at American Idol etc and they asked if I could name one of his songs, so I said ‘Whataya want from me’ and he replied ‘Just name one song so we know who he is!’ lolllll oh Adam, even your song titles are ambiguous.
The drive home was fairly uneventful except for the fact that there are no streetlights whatsoever on der autobahn so I was basically driving into a black hole constantly. I’m pretty good at driving long distances at night, I’m always so afraid I’m going to get tired but I didn’t really. I did drink some cans of Red Bull but still, I can be proud of myself I think, this was my first long distance drive all on my own without another driver on backup :D I felt very grown up. I dropped Gemma off at her extremely posh hotel at Leidseplein and then I finally got home at like 3.15. Just when I was about to go to bed, my flatmate came home so I had to tell her the entire story :P She was very enthusiastic for me, it made me realise again that I’m pretty lucky to live with her even though she never changes the catlitter and leaves clothes and dirty dishes all over the house XD I finally went to bed at 4.30 but I was actually too tired to sleep so I ended up sleeping for about 2,5 hours before I got up again to meet Ingie at the Central Station…
Amsterdam 20-11
I was so happy to see Ingie again! Our Scissor Sisters adventure on my birthday got cancelled so I hadn’t actually seen her since Pinkpop :O We went to Paradiso pretty much straight away, I didn’t expect there to be too many people since it was about 11am but there were over 50 people there already!!! I will never doubt her judgement of queuing situations anymore XD We chatted to some nice people in the queue, and to some less nice people as well, or actually there weren’t so much not nice as they were just creepy because they were Tokyo Hotel fans. WHY do so many TH-fans like Adam?!! They have nothing in common except glitter. Anyway. Marjolein joined us soon after, it was fun to see her again too :D it was like a small MFC reunion only without the people I hate XD Frankie found us later on as well. We spent most of the day just hanging around the venue, it was pretty cold and I wasn’t feeling too well physically because of the lack of sleep but the mood was good :)
Niko told us he was driving behind Adam’s bus on the motorway so when the bus arrived we were hoping we’d see Niko’s little Beetle arriving right behind it and it happened exactly like that! So we screamed ‘NIKOOOO’ while everyone else was screaming ‘ADAAAAAM’ :D Niko didn’t want to join us in the queue for some reason and decided to go and stand at the back of the venue. I only saw Gemma very briefly before the gig, her and a nice Irish lady called Fiona had VIP so they didn’t have to queue for a good spot. I also met Marinka who I knew through twitter, she’s a really cute girl. No matter how much I didn’t want to get into fandoms anymore, I have to admit I still love this shit, making new friends and sharing your silly obsession… :) I’m just an ultimate fandom geek, there’s no point denying it.

Getting inside was a downright disaster, there was pushing and almost fighting and general insane behaviour. We did get a great spot though, 3rd/4th row centre! I really wanted to be in the middle of the stage this time because I had been at the right in Cologne, I wanted a view from a different angle :)

There was no support act so the wait wasn’t too long! The stage in Paradiso was much bigger than the one in Cologne which I loved because it gave them the chance to put on the show they really wanted to put on. There was room for the video screen and for the little installation with small stages for the dancers etc. As for the gig: it was AT LEAST twice as good as Cologne, and that is saying a lot. Oh my God, it was insanely awesome. I’m embarrassed writing this honestly but I was all emotional for the first half of the gig, especially during the beautiful slow songs and ESPECIALLY during Soaked. I was just so happy that it was THE REAL ADAM on stage in ‘my’ venue ♥
THE ENCORE THOUGH!!! They did the same songs as the day before but zomg they smoked a joint on stage and Adam made out with Tommy for like several minutes. It looked like they were about this close to actually fucking on stage. Or as Gemma accurately described it afterwards ‘I nearly came’ XD Seriously though OH EM GEE it was one of the best gigs I’ve ever seen in my life!

But the night was not over yet…
We did the waiting at the back entrance thing for a bit with no success, which turned out to be because Adam had already left. I was almost a 100% sure he was staying at the American Hotel, artists who play Paradiso or Melkweg always stay there unless they are extremely rich or extremely poor, I figured Adam was in between somewhere so he HAD to be there and it soon turned out I was right! We sat on the steps and pretty much immediately spotted several bandmembers and dancers walking through the lobby. Sutan, Adam’s adorable make-up artist, came outside and talked to us. He actually even filmed us for no reason other then that he thought we were cute. He asked me for some tips about stuff to do in Amsterdam so I told him to go to the dragqueen bar because he is one, and he told us he was going to be on a reality show that was apparently ‘America’s Next Topmodel but with dragqueens’ I have to watch this! He was very stoned but very sweet and I kind of wanted to take him home and make him my gay best friend and have him do my make-up every day. We also talked to Brooke (dancer) briefly, and we saw Taylor and Neil go out for a cigarette but they hid around a corner, obviously not very eager to talk to us lol. We also saw Tommy walk through the lobby and he waved at us. ANYWAY, at some point we saw Adam (wearing a huge tophat) walking through the lobby towards the bar. I did an actual fangirl squee. I’m not even joking. Frankie suddenly grabbed my hand and suggested we go and have a look at the bar. I barely had time to think before we spotted him through the window, I said I really didn’t dare to go inside and all I did was trying to call Niko and Ingie but then suddenly we were inside and Adam was smiling at us and we were talking to him. I still can’t believe I actually did this. I told him I was so so SO happy he played in Amsterdam and especially Paradiso, and he was all ‘Aww thank you’ and gave me a hug. He told me he liked my jacket!! I said ‘I call it my Glambert jacket’ and he said ‘It’s very glam!’ I took a picture of him with Frankie and she took one of me with him, and then I said again how happy I truly was that he was in Amsterdam and he was all ‘awww’ again and grabbed me, he sort of pulled me against him with my face against his chest and then I looked up to him and he gave me two kisses. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. Frankie asked if he was coming back to Holland soon and he said hopefully. It was just the PERFECT meeting so we left when the conversation came to a natural end because it would only be ruined if we had hung around.

I ran outside and went to get the others immediately so they could go in as well, but just then Adam & co were leaving… I felt truly sorry for Ingie and Niko because they really wanted to meet him as well. Niko met him loads of times before so I didn’t think he had too much reason to complain, but Ingie hadn’t so I REALLY wanted it to happen for her. We walked up to the square to see if we could see where they were going and we saw them go inside Jimmy Woo. I was a bit disappointed in their very unclassy choice of clubs, but then again I hate clubs in general so my judgement is not very accurate I suppose. Still, Jimmy Woo is stupid and posh and not even gay.
Niko was quite disappointed by this turn of events so he decided to go home to Germany right away. Ingie and I tried to find Marinka and Gemma but their phones were switched off so we ended up just going home :) It turned out my little visit to the Americain bar was just a case of being in the right place at the right time! I was on a complete high from it the entire night, the only thing that could’ve made it better is if Ingie and Niko had been there too. NEXT TIME THOUGH!!!!!!
So this is what happened on my Adam weekend, I’m off reading a million slashfics and watching all the vids again while wearing an Adam shirt and generally being a pathetic fangirl.

It was just the PERFECT meeting so we left when the conversation came to a natural end because it would only be ruined if we had hung around.

I ran outside and went to get the others immediately so they could go in as well, but just then Adam & co were leaving… I felt truly sorry for Ingie and Niko because they really wanted to meet him as well. Niko met him loads of times before so I didn’t think he had too much reason to complain, but Ingie hadn’t so I REALLY wanted it to happen for her. We walked up to the square to see if we could see where they were going and we saw them go inside Jimmy Woo. I was a bit disappointed in their very unclassy choice of clubs, but then again I hate clubs in general so my judgement is not very accurate I suppose. Still, Jimmy Woo is stupid and posh and not even gay.
Niko was quite disappointed by this turn of events so he decided to go home to Germany right away. Ingie and I tried to find Marinka and Gemma but their phones were switched off so we ended up just going home :) It turned out my little visit to the Americain bar was just a case of being in the right place at the right time! I was on a complete high from it the entire night, the only thing that could’ve made it better is if Ingie and Niko had been there too. NEXT TIME THOUGH!!!!!!
So this is what happened on my Adam weekend, I’m off reading a million slashfics and watching all the vids again while wearing an Adam shirt and generally being a pathetic fangirl.
