the good news? I just won another $2,000 scholarship for school, and I have this amazing new friendship, and I'm having a blast and feeling really fulfilled by the teaching I've been doing recently

the bad? My graft is insufficent so I need another bone graft surgery and I'm feeling crazy again.

where that leaves me? I don't really know.

needing more surgery always sucks more than you can express in words. you think you're finally done with the waiting and the recovery and the dependence on others and then BAM. you're back right where you started and often through no fault of your own.

things i've tried to take away from that kind of situation? it makes you stronger on the other end, you can better empathize with others who will go through similar experiences, and you become a whole lot more understanding and patient with life. there are *very* few things that a person can't get through. i've also learned that as lonely as you might feel, as isolating as it might be, there are *so* many people who rise to the occasion to be there for you. good luck with all that and let me know if you're looking for visitors or help at all.

i'm pretty useless in terms of moving heavy objects, but i've pretty much got the entertaining post-surgery thing down cold between me, my family, and my friend who's had a bunch.

huge *HUGS*

thanks Zu - yeah it sucks, but its not like I can throw a temper tantrum and they'll say "oh, actually you DO have enough bone..."
because of the infection I had they won't even consider going in until christmas... so this fall should be fairly low key health-wise, but thanks for the offer!
Great to see you in june!
