All the way back to the hotel I couldn't shake the feeling that no one was taking this seriously enough. Angel wanted to eat and Buffy wanted to go...do whatever with him. Did they not realize that we just got our asses kicked, the wolf might be coming after us and we might all be dead soon? I personally was hoping Morrigan would turn all super- ( Read more... )

I met Angel's eyes briefly as Kennedy helped me out of the car. Damn unreadable expression, I couldn't even tell what he was thinkin'. Not that I ever could, and it totally blew my mind that for the last ten years or so I'd been best pals with a fake, and I hadn't even known. Maybe I'd get the chance to tell him how sorry I was about that later. For now, I just wanted to kiss my daughter and lay down. The seering pain in my stomach was making it hard to feel guilty for anything.

I didn't look at Buffy, and I didn't say anything to her either. We'd talk sometime soon and I wasn't looking forward to it. Instead of saying anything to her I leaned on Kennedy, her arm around my waist as she helped me into the lobby.

My eyes widened as I saw what was waiting for us in the lobby. "Get out!" I said quickly, looking around. Where was Morrigan? He hadn't already gotten to her had he? Pulling away from Kennedy I clutched my gut as I looked for a weapon. "Get out of here."

Where was Tessa? Where was Morrigan? God, why did we leave them alone here? What happened to all the guys with the big guns?!

I couldn't concentrate on any one thing until I felt Faith pull away and move toward the wolf. I know she may have wanted me to find Morrigan while she distracted the wolf, but there is some kind of best friend code that says you can't just leave your wounded best friend to get eaten up and shreded into peices.

Besides, in the back of my head, I knew that is Tessa and Morrigan were still in the hotel, they were likely long dead.

I pulled out the knife I'd taken out of the weapon's bag in the car and passed it to Faith. I should have known to come in more armed, but all I could do now was find something in the lobby to use.
