I just finished re-reading the whole series to sort of take a canon refresher, and there's no denying one thing. Ron has absolutely no clue about Hermione until HBP. Sure, he's all a-twitter in GOF. I found your journal after seeing Tights recced in rhr-represent. I'd previously read it, before I got a livejournal. It's a cute story and I love Hermione's descriptions of how good her legs feel.

I've gone back and forth on Ron (and Hermione). I had the impression that, between the "What does she see in Krum?" question and the perfume for Christmas, Ron had realized that he liked Hermione during OOTP. My guess was that the Quidditch kiss sort of started him on the path to realization and that it was Hermione's hot and cold attitude that kept him from making a move beyond the perfume. But I'm not completely sold on that.

And I also don't really think that Hermione was simply frustrated because he hadn't made a move. She's at times nasty (OOTP) or dismissive (early HBP) and I don't have a good grasp on why she acted the way she did.

So what was the holdup in the relationship? Besides JKR not wanting it fully resolved until the last book, I mean!
