Winter Birdwatching Photos

I got these up on Flickr pretty fast! They took a long time to edit. I took 305 photos and pared them down to the best 34. The flat lighting made it easy to be a little artistic :-) Click the birdie for the full album.

Wow! Those photos are great! I loved them all, both the bird and scenic ones - well done! :)

Thanks so much :-) I've lived here over 20 years and never made it to this park - I bet it looks fabulous in summer!

What wonderful photos! It's absolutely picture postcard beautiful there and the birds are really lovely. I have a real soft spot for the woodpecker. ♥

I'm impressed that you managed to pare it down to just these - it's always a problem for us because we take so many pictures and each one tells a slightly different story, so it can be really hard to cull.

Right now we're in a freeze thaw cycle - slippery sidewalks in the morning and slushy roads in the afternoon. Everyrhing is just kind of dirty and wet, but, we're supposed to get another snow storm this weekend.

The woodpeckers were a total surprise - I'm so used to sparrows around here :-)

I actually work on photographs for a living - I select, edit and catalogue them - so it makes it easier to pick out the winner. 52 photos were total duds due to blurriness and I took a lot of just branches. I couldn't use the LCD display on my camera and the viewfinder was frosted over. The auto focus was working hard too!

You're right about photos telling a different story. The landscape ones seem to really set a mood.
