So, after three sessions, someone decided to storm out of a game. This happens. Why it belongs here is two fold. First of all, the book isn't running the game. If the Dungeon Master decides that he's just going to create an Anti-Paladin by reversing a Paladin and using the Evil Alignment instead of tracking down the book, that's his prerogative. Saying "I checked the book, there are no evil paladins!" Is not going to force the GM to erase a PC from existence.
We'll call the guy I'm ranting about WASP, because all of his characters are barely veiled sexual fantasies named after bands.
Another thing is saying "I'm just not having fun" is a fine reason to leave a game. It's one of the best. But not having fun due to the decision to stumble around blindly in the woods, isn't. WASP proceeded to hide in a tree when we accidentally found out, and otherwise stayed out of reach of everyone and everything. Once free of anything resembling interaction or plot, WASP followed the tracks of a random man. Who turned out to be very nervous and heavily armed. And then was surprised when the nervous man spun and shot him while screaming because you yelled at him.
Aside from accepting the quest with the rest of us, WASP did nothing all game. And the reason for this is...
There were consequences two sessions ago when he tried to burn down an Alchemist's shop in the middle of a wooden village because the owner was a survivor of the Goblin-Elf War, and made a racist crack at you after you made a racist remark at his face. You tried to kill an entire village over some mild racism.
And then, when WASP was dyed blue as a warning to merchants that you were a bad customer/bandit/what have you. He flipped out. Fine. That could have been in character.
Also? The thing about Evil Characters? The Anti-Paladin is doing more good deeds than the player ever does when he's actually lawful. He's a dragon, dragons think humans taste good. Yes it's gross, but you could have asked him to stop. Instead of just flipping out. As far as the XP and money goes... If you aren't there, you don't get gold. This is a rule that all of the GMs in the group go by.
I'm sorry that he didn't have fun, but he didn't try. Sitting around and trying to force the GM to make things fun for you is... well, it isn't how anything works.
Edited To Add: Apparently, This D&D game came about because WASP harangued the GM to stop the Werewolf game that was running before and said that "No one was having fun because there's no differentiation of characters." Turns out WASP was the only one who wasn't having fun. The others were loving it.
