I'd like to take a moment to point out that my most distinguished alma mater has been accepted into the Schools Directory, having naturally been submitted for consideration by yours truly. Thus far I am the only former student on the list, but I suppose that is to be expected. My education was anything but a dime a dozen.

Modesty certainly has its uses as an ironical device. But as a virtue, I find it highly overrated, not to mention fantastically dull.

I wonder if any other infamous Etonians will show. I should like to see that fellow who penned Prometheus Bound, or even one of those stuffy Walpoles.

There are other OEs around, you know. It seems many of us don't trumpet the fact. I wonder why?

Indeed, I have noted the presence of other alumni, who appeared not long after I'd paved the way. As to the general lack of trumpeting -- I daresay you and your fellows on the list have the look of new Old Etonians. Perhaps your modern sensibilities prevent you from appreciating your education as thoroughly as one did in my day.
