Jayne gamefully managed to not laugh out loud at Mal's
predicament, yesterday.
He definitely heard snickering as soon as Jayne started heading down the stairs, but at least he did send up Simon, who promptly announced in that not-really-announcing way of his to take it easy and attempt to not try to be 'theatrical

There's a knock on the shuttle door.

Mal's propped up rather comfortably on the ornate bed in Shuttle One, flipping through a book that he's extremely fine with putting off to the side as Kaylee enters the room.
"Pull up a seat, baobei."

Kaylee's a grown woman of twenty-four; if she wanted to, she could make her own way in the 'verse with nobody to say her no. She's capable, she's smart, and she doesn't really need anybody, if you want to get technical.
But the look on her face as she takes a seat on the floor, her back against the bed, close to his hand --
Like she doesn't know what to think.
"You feelin' better?" she asks, after a moment.
