In the end, you need to stop worrying about the relationship and savor what you have at any one point in time. Someone who really cares about you won't care if they disagree with what you think.

Change is good and necessary, and even when they're life decisions like getting married or going off to college... Well, your parents will always care about you no matter what the circumstances are. Parent envy won't get you anywhere, they all act different anyhows.
