We played in the same OC superhero group before I had to write my characters out and take an indefinite hiatus somewhere around last January due to health issues. I don't think I talked much with them before though, and right now I'm wondering whether or not the characters they played back then were "adopted" too.
One player on a site I was on pulled the same thing, only changing the character's name. Turns out the mod who looked over the profile was also the player who made the character the brper tried to plagiarise, so the post explaining why the app was denied was hilarious to read.
Look, if you find a $20.00 bill on the street, and no one's around, sure, you go ahead and pocket that thing. Nobody crumples up character sheets and just throws them to the wind to land where they will, though. Why would anyone even think that was okay??
Reminds me of a board I was on a long time ago. A Harry Potter rp. I was asked to play one of a set of triplets, full creative freedom of all but the last name. I did it all, first and middle name, sex, personality, looks, his personal history quirks and so on. Played him for over a year. I had to take a hiatus due to having a child, I returned to him having been taken over by another admin, (I had been one as well) who had changed him Completely all but the name, and had taken over my account. Changed the email and password. Told he had been created by his sisters player (who had asked me to take on the role.) And she'd given him away. I just walked away from the whole mess. I still have him, but never do anything with him thanks to that.
