FYI, I've had many packages from Amazon delivered on a holiday. They have some kind of deal with USPS. They deliver items on Sundays and, apparently, holidays. Can't speak to your specific situation, but I do know this to be true. You can Google it.
Can confirm as well, my sister's boyfriend is one of the people who do this. They have a whole division of people specifically hired and contracted through Amazon to do this.
No, but they should have a list of holidays and be aware of which shippers deliver on those holidays making a point to not use that one when they quote delivery on that day.
I had several packages delivered on a Sunday as well as holidays. Also, one of the reasons the Prime shipping is available at the rate they charge is because UPS and other carriers use the post office to deliver that last stretch in many cases. Especially if you aren't located close to a warehouse.
I prefer amazon to ship USPS, every time they select fedex or ups my package takes forever and a day to get to me, and ends up with some bullshit shipping delay (like the day they claimed my address doesn't exist). USPS gets me my package promptly, and my mailman is amazing.
