P3 in the P4 Universe, because I've seen several requests of them.

Minato going through his own Mayonaka TV dungeon, with Ryoji being his Shadow.
It's logical. He already is a Shadow; He's a Persona; He came from within Minato from his heart and emotions.

Minato's suppressed feeling, I guess being a desire of death to join his parents.
Mental affliction, denial, angst, hintings between the two.

"I don't want to feel these emotions, because they aren't mine."

OMFG seconded.

I don't know if I can manage to write this, but I'll make the attempt, and post if I like the results. :3

It's just Tartarus again.

No... not exactly.

Yes, yes it is. The walls are exactly the same, concrete turned dark by the light of the Dark Hour's moon, splashes of blood on the walls, transmogrified people close to the wall here and there, the facets of the coffins shining like onyx in the strange light.

What moon?

The one shining in through the windows, of course.

When have there been windows in Tartarus, Minato-kun?

There... were.

... Of course there were. Now come on.He lifted the katana a little higher, walked on. He was alone, but he'd been alone in Tartarus several times. The party splitting up to dispatch Shadows more efficiently. Fuuka hadn't said anything for some time now, but that was normal. She might be advising one of the others. She might simply be waiting for him to ask her a question. There might be nothing wrong and she was waiting- waiting... and none of the shadows on this level were interested in fighting him. They were no match- seemed to ignore him as he passed them by. Fine. He had no interest ( ... )

"I know, I know," Ryoji chuckled, folding his arms over his chest, "that doesn't explain much. Still- it's true." He pulled the upper hand out of the fold, fingers curled against his palm, and un-tucked his index finger. He extended it toward Minato, curled it inward in a 'come here' motion. Minato recognized that smile. He'd seen Ryoji wear it for Yukari and Mitsuru-senpai ( ... )

Minato's breath echoed in the silence as Ryoji paused, kissed a line down his neck and tilted his face up, biting softly on Minato's ear.

"God," Ryoji mocked, "why- why was I spared? Why didn't my life end that day with my parents?"

Minato's hands tightened in Ryoji's shirt. "Stop," he breathed.

"But you like this," Ryoji chuckled, pressing his body closer and easing up on the knife, pressing against Minato and rubbing"I ( ... )

Wow, awesome! Yeah, I second the above anon that I've never really given Minato that much thought. D: Poor kid. But this was beautiful!

I agree with the other anons... This fic made me feel like I completely failed to understand Minato in-game.

Amazing, anon.

*pout* Only 'almost'?

XD Kidding, kidding! I'm glad you enjoyed and THANK YOU for requesting such an interesting prompt.

I don't remember anything in the P3 canon to suggest Minato had a subconscious death wish, but the idea that he might have suspected that would be his fate (Igor: Either way you have one year)- even wanted it- makes the plot so much more poignant for me. I thank you for that as well.

--that definitely is one of the best writings of Minato ever! very nice psychological eep-itude (I especially liked the bits of noticing Fuuka's absence) and such a spooky ending!

good work, writer anon!

I hope it's okay to make a second fill. The first anon did a stellar job! This is just a slightly different view.

1.

They say there's no pain in death, but Minato wonders exactly how they'd know - and for that matter, who 'they' even are. Clearly they can't have died themselves because when people die they don't come back. Minato knows this better than anyone; remembers the string of bodies lying in his wake. Takeharu Kirijo, Ikutsuki, Shinji. His parents. Ryoji.

Minato isn't afraid, isn't angry, isn't much of anything. He's just tired. Ryoji took everything because Ryoji was everything; Minato only carried his essence. And Ryoji's waiting for him, high above on the spiral staircase. He keeps moving, sword in hand, ignoring the coffins lining the wall, the sickly green tinge of the light, and the pools of blood rippling at his feet.

2.Dark liquid oozes across the floor in slow rivulets, forming puddles in the dips and cracks of the tiles. You refuse to look at them. You're already tired of the yellow-eyed reflection staring back ( ... )

5.

In the end Minato's nothing more than a mirror, reflecting whatever the viewer wants to see - but he does have three peculiar quirks. The first, obviously, is the multitude of shapes and voices he carries in his head. He's the boy with potential. The second is the way he flows like liquid between those around him, conforming to the spaces they provide him and always knowing exactly what they need to take. All things to all people. But these don't really count; they're abilities one would expect a mirror to possess.

The third and final quirk, a talent for survival, is a little different. It's proved the most useful and most painful of all. He conquered Tartarus, challenged Nyx, saved the world. He just couldn't do anything for the three people who mattered most.

6.He's half in love with death, even if he doesn't realize it. You hear it echo in every stair he climbs and in the silence between every shallow breath. The gaps last longer each time. You try to breathe along with him - or at least you try to make the gestures ( ... )

9.

His eyes are still closed, but the bright light above him seeps through his eyelids. It's still green but he imagines it highlighting every corner of the tower, bouncing back off the coffins and the blood dripping down the walls. He's near the top.

Akihiko and Shinji told him they didn't remember their parents. Yukari's memories of her father were too twisted for him to understand, and he never had the courage to ask Mitsuru whether she remembered her mother. Minato remembers every detail. Not just of the crash, though that's carved on the inside of his skull, but of everything else. The feeling of his mother's fingers ruffling his hair, the clipped tone in his father's voice when he arrived home, and the way he'd walk between them, one hand holding on to each.

The part that's missing - the part that troubles him the most - is their faces. He can't remember them. Sometimes he glimpses the faint outline of a smile, or the muddied tones of pale blue eyes, but they're just pieces of a mosaic he can't assemble.

You'll see them ( ... )
