Usually, their sleepovers involved late nights, popcorn fights, and the blaring soundtrack of Chie's DVD collection. Yukiko didn't mean to break into laughing fits during all the dramatic climaxes, but she couldn't help how funny the wuxia stars looked when they were making their little speeches, and secretly, she didn't mind Chie's swift retaliation for slights to her kung-fu heroes. She rarely felt more free than when her best friend was hitting her in the face with a down pillow.

But tonight wasn't like their usual sleepovers. Her mother had insisted that she bring Chie over to the Inn for once.

"Sorry." Yukiko grimaced, and sat gingerly down on the edge of her futon. Her skin was still oversensitive from the baths. "Mom wouldn't let me bring a TV in here. It's not traditional, and the noise might disturb the clients."
