They'd been at the food court almost half an hour when Yosuke's phone buzzed. He flipped it open, saw a text message from Souji. 'Busy today - study 2morrow, c u then'.
"Let me guess." Chie was sitting opposite him, rolling her eyes. "They're not coming."
Chie claims his mouth with hers, hard and desperate. Yosuke closes his eyes, doesn't know how to respond at first, because it's still hard to grasp this, to understand how he missed the signs. This is Chie - they fight, curse, rag on each other over every little thing. But his hands find their way to her shoulders, then run down her back, fingers pressing against her soft track jacket. His arms settle around her waist, and he pulls her closer.
Yosuke slipped the phone back into his pocket. "Nope. Or ( ... )

"I'd be telling everyone," he thought - except he said it out loud instead. He felt an empty Pocky box bounce off his forehead. Chie was glaring at him, a particularly indignant look on her face.
"Yeah, I'll bet. Go round bragging to the whole town." She folded her arms. "You're such a guy."
Water running from the taps outside; two older women chatting about a sale in the housewares department; Chie pressing kisses against his bare chest. Yosuke registers it all. He feels his belt loosen, hears Chie breathing hard and fiddling with the zipper on his pants. Pushes her back, looks at her. Can't quite ask the question. But she nods, firmly, and they break away, tugging at their clothing, fumbling and shaking. Yosuke looks up, and it's still Chie he sees, same as ever - but this time his heart skips
"Well, duh. What, did you think I was Kanji?" he retorted, and he could tell Chie was trying hard not to smile. "Souji's a dark horse, though. I never even noticed ( ... )
