Shadow!Chie/Yukiko, slight AU where their situations were reversed and Chie was the one they had to rescue, not Yukiko. Have fun figuring out what Chie's dungeon would have been like, hmm?

Give this anon a little bit; going to give this a shot. Presumably Shadow!Chie tops?

There's photographs of her pasted all over the walls, and it makes Yukiko sick to her stomach. She's running through the corridors, a maze of dark passages, and everywhere it's her, her, her. But it's twisted and wrong, somehow; these false doppelgangers aren't her, at least not a part she can bring herself to admit. They stare out with mocking smiles and eyes full of scorn, a chorus hissing her name. Yukiko. Yukiko. Yukiko.

Is this what Chie really feels?

And it's Chie she's searching for, glancing in every doorway, straining to hear her friend's voice above the whispers. She left Souji and Yosuke behind without a second thought. "Chie!" she calls, and she's on the brink of tears. Because this can't happen, not like this. Yukiko can't lose Chie, because without Chie her life means nothing. She means nothing ( ... )

The Shadow lifts its head, and the world snaps back, the tiles cold beneath Yukiko's back. I'm better than you, it tells her. But I can't do anything without you. It runs its hands down her front, pushes them under her shirt, and Chie's fingers are trailing up her ribs - no, not Chie, she has to remind herself - but now the sun's setting, red and orange light filling her room. Chie said that red looks good on me, her own Shadow whispers in the back of her head, an itch that refuses to go away ( ... )

Good god, anon, that was fabulous. I especially liked how you mentioned the fire/ice thing and LOVED what Chie's own room of crazy looked like.

I just realized it's a bit too similar to the TV announcer's room (her name escapes me). But, it works :-) Glad you liked it!

Yukiko can't stop thinking that everything would be much prettier if it wasn't the wrong shade of green.

And honestly, that should be the last thing on her mind right now... but it's better than listening to the whispers, unfamiliar and almost-familiar voices muttering all around them, sneering, paying false compliments that don't really conceal the daggers hidden beneath. Backhanded insults, peppered with the more direct type.

Yosuke heard his own voice rise over the tide a few floors ago, and the way he'd looked at her then -- the way he'd looked at Souji, face twisting at the dredged-up memory of some barbs he'd carelessly tossed her friend's way...

And comments about her. Not Chie, but her. People asking Chie about her -- strangers asking about her, bringing up their friendship as an excuse -- a poor mask for their obvious intentions. Just as poorly veiled as all the insults ( ... )

Only that isn't Chie, though she's standing just as proudly as ever, hands on her sides and a smile on her lips. No, this smile is sharper, razor-edged to match the challenge blazing behind golden eyes. And the hips that those hands rest against aren't concealed by a familiar jacket -- despite everything, Yukiko stares, gaze traveling down her friend's exposed legs, tracing the taut, toned skin in just the way she's supposed to. Maybe Chie finds it easier to move with her qipao cut like that, but those slits go so far up...

A Shadow stirs in the back of her mind, and a half-remembered whisper that Yukiko's fairly sure she never heard from Chie makes blood rush to her face. But that isn't important right now -- what matters is that the real Chie's lying at the feet of the false one, and even though she's never seen her look so helpless, that's still unmistakably her, far more than the other one could ever claim to be, and...

"Oh, I see! So that's where my pretty bird went!"

And the false Chie smiles, and uncoils -- how else can ( ... )

Woah, glad I looked back through the previous pages - this is awesome! Especially like the reversal (Yukiko taking control). Good stuff :)
