"It's not the same, that's all I'm saying." There was plenty more to say, of course, like asking exactly how far it would go; whether Chie was going to become irrelevant as Yukiko learned to stand alone.
There was a specific way it'd always worked. There was Yukiko Amagi, future owner of the Amagi Inn, raised to be dignified and ladylike; the Yukiko that the boys at school chased around like puppies. 'The Amagi Challenge', or whatever stupid name they used. This Yukiko was pleasant enough, even if Chie usually wound up a convenient stepping stone for guys to try their luck.
Then there was her Yukiko - and she knew that was possessive and controlling and all the other things her Shadow had called her on, but she couldn't change the truth. Her Yukiko was a different person entirely: pillow fights, laughing fits at Chie's dumb jokes, watching kung-fu movies and giggling at the dialogue. Chie always pretended the last one pissed her off and grabbed Yukiko to make her stop - and then it was always ( ... )
