Sometimes she doesn’t go home when all the other kids around the Shopping District do. Sometimes she sits on the open bench at Souzai Daigaku and stares at the sky, like she’s waiting for the day to pass her by, until the sky gets dark and the breeze on her skin reminds her to get to her feet and start walking. He asked her once what she was doing.

“I’m watching time,” she says, eyes fixed on the clouds above. “My mother once told me that if I don’t pay attention, time will pass me by. So I’m looking for it.”

Sometimes he sits next to her (because his sister can wait), on the other end of the bench and watches people pass them by, until the sky gets dark, so he can gently touch her hand and remind them both that they’ve got to go home. He waits all day for the moment where she lowers her head and looks at him. “Are you also watching out for it- time?” she asks, as he gets to his feet
