Kanji didn't care about Valentine's Day. No way. Just a dumb holiday made up for girls. All you got was a bunch of lousy candy - and then you were supposed to give back more gifts a month later. Hell with that crap. Who needed chocolate anyway?
"I think that's the fifth time you've checked your locker today, Kanji-kun." Rise was leaning round the edge of the row of lockers, smirking at him like a cat that got the cream.
"I-I'm just checkin' my gym shoes are still there, is all." Never knew when some asshole might steal them, right? "None of your business."
Rise just rolled her eyes. "C'mon. It's not like you didn't get anything."
Yeah, right. "From Yukiko-senpai, Chie-senpai, and you. That's all. Every guy on the team got the same." Pity chocolate. Nothing tasted worse. And one person was clearly missing from that list.
"Not every guy," Rise pointed out, then giggled and blushed just slightly. "I made Souji-senpai's by hand."

He was so busy grumbling, he almost tripped over the box outside the shop door. When did that arrive? He'd gone to sleep pretty late last night, and his window looked right over the street. Hadn't heard a thing.
The box itself was plain white, his name written in neat capital letters on the top. He never got parcels; was this just a prank? He glanced around. Couldn't see anyone watching, so he pulled open the lid.
Inside was a wad of white tissue paper, carefully enclosing a fuzzy blue bunny keyring. He picked it up, eyes wide. There was something sticking of the base - a switch, he realized, with a small sticker reading "Use this." He flipped it across, and white light shone out of the tips of the bunny's ears.
He inspected the box further. At the bottom was a note.
