So I murdered him. Who cares? I wasn’t going to confess now; not yet.
Of course, the questioning had already begun. I’ve gone through this sort of thing before: you go in, you sit, you “chat it up” with some random dope who obviously ate too many donuts this morning, and then leave. Simple stuff. Nothing I couldn’t handle, no sir.
This, however, was a bit different.
Strange. Unsettling.“Mr. Hertsfield.” A slim, graceful detective dressed in various hues of blue and a puffy hat addressed me with an air of importance; gingerly flipping through a thin stack of papers that were initially hidden in a manila folder. His eyes didn’t meet mine. Behind him, an ominous, intimidating looking guard dressed completely in black (with matching henchmen sunglasses, pfftttt.) stared me down. At least, I think he was staring me down. I couldn’t really see his eyes, though his hair was bright enough to blind a blind man. I squinted in his direction.
