A good day

I'm glad the weekend is finally here. I had a great lunch today with a co-worker who is new to our department. She's very open-minded and friendly and we really hit it off. I also told my female manager today about my transition. She was extremely supportive and nice, as always. She's such a sweet lady.

Thats great.

I remember coming out at work. My boss looked at me and went "And" - simply put. She just didn't care.

Just think when I go back to work I will be on "T" and fully going through this process. Now if I can get them to recognize my chosen name - that has to deal with HR more then my boss. I will talk with her and see if its alright that I start using my chosen name.

Thanks. :-) They already recognize my chosen name here, but it's really easy for them because it's no different than before. I'm just Chris. My new name is Christopher, but I still go by the shorter version. The pronouns will be more difficult for them, I'm sure. If you do the legal name change and take that to HR, then there shouldn't be any issues with using your chosen name. That's what I have to do here as well.

Yea they are waiting for the legal name change which I am working on right now. See I will use Ryan at work becase we already have a James - and well Jamison is just too close and I dont want to get confused with James. I will talk with my boss about using Ryan when I get back in a week.

It's great that the environment is so accepting.

Yeah, it certainly feels that way in my department. I don't know how this will go over with HR yet, but I don't think I will have any huge issues.

Cool! I knew Suman would be supportive - I want details when I'm up there. You must've been nervous about discussing it all. I'm so happy for you that step is overwith! :-) So the new chick is cool? I'll like her too? Is she hot/bi? ;-)

I'll tell you all the details when I see you (soon, yay!). Yeah, I was a little nervous at first, but you know how she is. She just makes you feel so comfortable, like you can tell her anything. The new girl is very cool. She's open-minded, a dog lover, and very easy to talk to. I told her (about me being an FTM) today as well. She's happily married to her hubby, but she's very gay friendly. I think you will like her, too.

lol. I think this one is a keeper for now. They're treating me pretty decent and it's hard to find a better manager than the one I have. You should come to work here, too. It's a bit of a hike, though (Silver Spring).

Sounds great bro. Having a supportive company is the best. Glad things are working out good there.

Thanks! I have been worrying about it, but it feels good to at least be starting the process at work.
