I'm really sorry to hear that, brother. I think this sort of problem is popping up all over the place in Masonry these days. I need to be in the market to find a new blue lodge soon myself. We've even tried the idea of getting together esoteric Masons to work towards chartering our own lodge which would be more than a dinner club, but after a year we still have the same 5 people we started with. These problems may be easier for us to fix in another 20 or 30 years. The reason I say that is because I've had much better luck getting things reinvigorated in Oddfellows which is significantly more advanced in its decay than Masonry. Once membership shrinks to a certain degree we may find it becomes easier to make progress on Masonry also.
my lodges membership is already in significant decay and they have a lot of problems with the building. They're really not in a position to turn away good brothers, but they need to change their mentality or the lodge won't survive.
I was lucky enough to find the Royal Arch Masons who are very different in their attitude, it could be because they are in such a state of decay like frommy said in his post. They really want people to come in with new ideas and plans to help reinvigorate the chapters, unlike the blue lodge that just wants to maintain the status quo and reminisce about the "good ol days."
That does sound like the sort of situation I was thinking of for more advanced decay. Take my Oddfellows lodge, for example, before I joined they frequently weren't able to make quorum (5) at meetings. Since then, we've brought in about 5 more people and that's made a huge difference in having a positive, optimistic environment. The group is also much more fraternal than others I've seen.
I'm glad Royal Arch has worked out for you in that sort of way. Perhaps the solution for people like us is to find blue lodges which already have pretty much shut their doors and reinvigorate them instead of trying to be part of the blue lodges which are still in the process of shrinking.
Considering that the tenets of Freemasonry are Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth, this is a travesty. Frankly, I'd love for another Lodge to answer your call of Relief and pay your dues to the utter embarrassment of your home Lodge. As a Mason, I truly apologize.
Is Saturday still open for you, BTW? Email me or catch me on chat, OK?
Saturdays are no good for me, that's my 1st night back and I have to flip my sleep schedule or I end up staying up for 30 hours. I thought you were told me it was a Friday?
I looked at our chat log, and I mentioned I was getting in on Friday, but wasn't specific otherwise. Sorry.
We should be getting in Friday night and we were planning on doing our thing Saturday afternoon. But if you wanna do something Friday night, I'm sure we could swing that.

Not nearly as obnoxious as what I hear was going on in Constellation Lodge, but completely inexcusable nonetheless.
