somehow, bush is staying. im moving to canada now before they reinstate the draft. yes, there is a girls draft now. HOW DID HE GET BACK IN OFFICE?! WHY DID THEY VOTE FOR HIM?! WHY DID KERRY GIVE UP?! there is obviously no one up there who cares. im off to try to ignore the world.

I agree with you that it's really a horrid situation when the country picks the greater of two evils. And yes, the New York State Thruway will certainly be backed up tonight.

But the draft...simply put, I don't think it'll happen. Both candidates support a volunteer army, and even though it looks like the country's closing in on us, the fact is that the draft bill was actually proposed by a Democratic Congressman from New York, presumably based on the notion that more people would oppose the war (and, thus, Bush) if they were made to feel its consequences more directly. The bill failed by a landslide, and I know of no further attempts to reinstate the draft.

Hm. At least he can't run a third time, right? [pouts a bit]
